Kayla Harrison Ends 2021 PFL Season Right Where She Started

For Kayla Harrison, being the best just seems to come naturally.

Harrison concluded another perfect run through the PFL, becoming the 2021 women’s lightweight champion.

For the Olympic gold medalist, it is nothing new. She has yet to taste defeat in her career, scoring a 12th win with her submission over Taylor Guardado. 

Since joining the PFL in 2018, Harrison has twice claimed the season-long tournament title. She has finished 10 of her 12 opponents, with only Larissa Pacheco pushing her to the distance.

And Harrison continues to showcase more and more striking. She added finishes with her fists this season, twice stopping opponents inside of the first round. 

This year, though, Harrison shined even brighter outside of the cage. 

While helping carry the banner for the PFL, Harrison took on the role of mother. She adopted her niece and nephew, and she has also helped raise money for those affected by the tragedy in Florida. 

Along with continuing to push through PFL opponents, Harrison also stepped into the Invicta FC cage. She competed at featherweight, earning a second round finish of Courtney King for the all-female promotion. 

What will 2022 hold for Harrison? Could we see another weight class open up for Harrison to attempt and become a double-champion?
