Jim Ross Off AEW TV? + Johnny Gargano WWE Contract Update

Jim Ross is currently dealing with some medical issues, including skin cancer and he might miss some AEW TV. Also, Johnny Gargano re-signed a very short contract extension with WWE.

Jim Ross Off AEW TV?

Anyone that watched this week’s Dynamite might have raised an eyebrow during Jim Ross’s sign-off. It seems like there’s a good chance he may have to step down from commentary, due to some health issues.

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer chimes in on Ross during his latest edition. As the WWE Hall of Famer needs to undergo skin cancer treatments, it may be challenging for him to do his job moving forward.

This is completely understandable, considering the situation he’s in. Dave notes that he doesn’t believe that Jim Ross even knows when he’ll return to television.

Fans Hoping To See Jim Ross On AEW TV Soon

After all, according to Meltzer, Ross has 22 days of radiation therapy. This all starts as of Monday, November 29th.

Dave also questioned if JR had 22 days of “straight” radiation. Ross might not be up for work, which makes sense considering how exhausting treatment can be for a cancer patient.

JR loves his job, and we the fans love listening to his commentary on AEW. While he may want to work, for obvious reasons, he just might not be able to do this anytime soon.

Jim Ross is a rare jewel in this industry and has been through so much in his life. On behalf of everyone here at WNZ, we are rooting for him to have a safe and full recovery.

At the end of the day, it would be better for him to take as much time as he needs, versus rushing it or doing too much. His health is the number one focus, right now.
UPDATE: Jim Ross Confirms AEW TV Break

Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville.

@TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing.

My thanks for all your support. ??

Additional details reveal that both the WWE and Gargano are in ongoing talks. The report also notes that the WWE feels as if Johnny is willing to extend his deal when other promotions are interested.

Johnny Gargano & WarGames

Last night on WWE NXT, a number of matches were announced for WarGames. This includes the one Gargano is involved in.

Johnny’s WarGames match has him, NXT Champ Tommaso Ciampa, LA Knight, and Pete Dunne forming Team Old School. They are going up against Team New School in North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, Tony D’Angelo, and Bron Breakker.

Gargano hit social media to talk about WarGames, last night. See twee above.

Johnny joined WWE NXT in 2015. Since, he’s become NXT Champion, North American Champion (three times), NXT Tag Team Champion, and the first NXT Triple Crown Champion.

What does the future hold for Johnny Wrestling after December 10th? Only time will tell.
