Combate Global will go old-school once more later this month.
Next Friday night live on Paramount+, the promotion will hold a one-night, eight-fighter tournament.
The event will take place in the lightweight division from Miami. It will mark the 28th anniversary of UFC 1, which was produced by Combate Global CEO Campbell McLaren.
Paramount+ live coverage will begin with a Combate Global pre-show at 9:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. CT, and will continue with the live fight action, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT.
“The USA-Mexico rivalry has provided some of the most exciting and memorable fights in Combate history,” said McLaren, “and this tournament, loaded with talent from both sides of the border, is sure to deliver Much More Action and pay tribute to the sport that I launched 28 years ago.”
Set to compete in the event will be Cristian Perez, Miguel Villegas, Hugo Flores, Daniel Soto, Jim Alers, Enrique Gonzalez, Samuel Alvarez and Jimmy Sandlin.
The winners of the two quarterfinal stage bouts between U.S. fighters will meet in the semifinal stage, while the victors of the two quarterfinal stage fights between Mexican athletes will meet in the semifinal phase.
The event will conclude with a U.S. vs. Mexico showdown in the championship stage of action.
