Dave Chappelle Stands Fearless In New Netflix Special

Comedian Dave Chappelle isn’t afraid to speak his mind. The iconoclast made a career confronting our uncomfortable truths with humor. Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix special, The Closer, is no different.

48-year-old Chappelle’s part stand-up/part monologue style isn’t always going after a joke but instead pursuing his view of the truth. And sometimes that can lead him into hot water.

His latest controversy angered the LGBTQ community. Chappelle defended rapper DaBaby after he made a controversial statement about gay people and AIDs.

But Chappelle notes that DaBaby has done far worse, yet it was this slip of words that cost him his career.

Dave Chappelle’s Netflix Special Angers LGBTQ Community – Again

In The Closer, Chappelle delivers some matter-of-fact style statements on gender that immediately drew the ire of PC warriors. 

During the special, which debuted Tuesday, Chappelle says “Gender is a fact. Every human being in this room, every human being on earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on earth. That is a fact.”

Is Dave Chappelle Wrong?

A former darling of the left for skewering the right and racism, Chappelle now floats the boundaries of political correctness.

His refusal to apologize or couch his words often angers those concerned with the power of words.

But Chappelle knows exactly what he is doing. He intentionally uses humor to attack convention and taboos. 

Chappelle will never make the one unforced error of so many comedians these days – he will NEVER apologize for his jokes.

Even if a comedian apologizes, it’s never enough to satisfy the scolds and they simply go on to demand more and more apologies. 

In an age when everyone is concerned with “cancel culture” and being shut out of public life for a slip of the tongue, Chappelle proudly says what he wants and doesn’t acknowledge the consequences.

By ignoring those consequences, he robs the PC-maniacs of their power. His refusal to grovel is his greatest weapon and a lesson to us all.

Don’t apologize for your convictions. Say what you mean and mean it.

Now, of course, if you genuinely hurt someone’s feelings then yes an apology is in order. But Chappelle isn’t out to be mean and marginalizing. He is out to be honest and FUNNY.

Just remember Chappelle’s own line “I’m not saying it because it’s mean, I’m saying it because it’s funny”
