“The View” cohost Whoopi Goldberg was not about to stand by silent after “Real Time” host Bill Maher made comments about the NFL playing the Black national anthem that she didn’t like.

Yesterday, we reported that Bill Maher had criticized the NFL for playing the Black national anthem “Lift Every Voice And Sing” along with “The Star Spangled Banner” before the season kickoff between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night.

This didn’t sit well with Whoopi Goldberg. She trashed Maher for “complaining” about the Black national anthem during a recent segment on “The View.”

Backstory: Bill Maher Tackles NFL For Playing ‘Black National Anthem’

Bill Maher’s Comments About NFL And Black National Anthem

“I saw last night on the football game, Alicia Keys sang ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ which now I hear is called the Black national anthem,” Maher said during his weekly show last Friday. “Now, maybe we should get rid of our national anthem, but I think we should have one national anthem.”

“I think when you go down a road where you’re having two different national anthems, colleges sometimes now have … many of them have different graduation ceremonies for Black and White, separate dorms — this is what I mean! Segregation! You’ve inverted the idea. We’re going back to that under a different name,” he added.

Whoopi Goldberg Fires Back At Bill Maher

Goldberg hit back at Maher during Monday’s episode of her ABC talk show “The View.”

“I think because we have gone backwards a good 10-15 years, we’re having to reeducate people,” Goldberg said, according to Fox News. “We’re having to reeducate people about how women want to be talked about, how Black people want to be talked about, how Hispanic people want to be talked about.”

“And just so you know, Bill, ‘Lift Every Voice’ has always been considered the Black national anthem,” she continued. “It’s always been that because the separation of the anthems has been so clear to us. Now, maybe other people don’t feel like that, but I feel like, you know, we have to reeducate and retell people.”

Liberal co-host Joy Behar agreed with Goldberg, saying that “the national anthem does not appeal to Black America for very good reason” because our “Star Spangler Banner” stems from “systemic racism.”

Whoopi Goldberg Doubles Down

After the show got back from a commercial break, Goldberg doubled down by telling viewers that Maher was “complaining” about the Black national anthem.

When Mary Katharine Ham, the conservative guest co-host, supported Maher’s concerns over free speech in schools, Goldberg shut her down by claiming that the HBO host is wrong to claim that this national discussion stems from being woke.

“You cannot say that this is happening because people are woke. I was never asleep. I’ve never been asleep, OK?” Goldberg said. “So in the culture that I’ve seen, we are fighting because there’s a big gap … you don’t see us as being viable parts of the United States and that’s the problem. Not just us, but Native Americans and all of the other that we’ve been talking about, women, just the whole thing. So you know what everybody, America? Get it together!”

Radical liberals like Whoopi Goldberg want to see America divided like never before along racial and gender lines, but more moderate leftists like Bill Maher are starting to see that this has gone way too far.

If the radical left don’t get themselves in check soon, they’re going to push a huge chunk of moderates to the right.

I, for one, would not complain about that.
