UFC 266 Results: Alexander Volkanovski, Valentina Shevchenko Defend

Alexander Volkanovski showed why he is the top featherweight in the world today at UFC 266.

Volkanovski pieced up Brian Ortega, defending his title in the main event. The card took place from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

This marked the second successful title defense for Volkanovski, who is now 23-1 overall. He has not lost since his fourth MMA fight back in 2013.

In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko once again flexed her might. Shevchenko finished Lauren Murphy in the fourth round to retain her flyweight title.

Shevchenko had no trouble with Murphy, constantly imploring her will. The 33-year-old has made six successful title defenses since 2018 and is on an eight-fight win streak.

Heavyweight Curtis Blaydes survived a rapidly closing right eye, earning a decision over Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Blaydes was able to use his superior wrestling skills to pick up the victory.

Jessica Andrade kicked off the main card with a convincing first round finish of Cynthia Calvillo. Andrade was able to get the stoppage win with just six seconds left.

Merab Dvalishvili somehow survived an early onslaught by Marlon Moraes, coming back to finish him in the second round. Dvalishvili ate several big-time punches by the former champion, who appeared to gas himself out with the attack.

Dan Hooker topped Nasrat Haqparast, Chris Daukaus stopped Shamil Abdurakhimov and Talia Santos downed Roxanne Modafferi to complete the televised prelims.

On the streamed prelims, Jalin Turner, Nick Maximov, Matthew Semelsberger and Jonathan Pearce were all winners.
