Lori Loughlin is reportedly returning to the screen after the college admissions scandal. She has landed her first acting role since getting out of jail at the end of last year.

Loughlin Returning to Acting

Deadline reported that Loughlin will be returning to a spinoff of  the Hallmark series “When Calls The Heart,” for the first time since the scandal broke. She played the role of Abigail Stanton and will return to that role in the second season of “When Hope Calls” which will be on the GAC Family network.

Loughlin will reprise her role in the two-part Season 8 premiere titled “When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas,” which is set to air on Saturday, December 18.

Hallmark Fired Loughlin Over Scandal

This will not only be Loughlin’s return to acting, but also her first public appearance out of court since the scandal first came to light.

Hallmark fired Loughlin in March of 2019 after she and her fashion designer husband were accused of paying $500,000 in bribe money to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before.

“We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” Crown Media Family Networks, which runs Hallmark, told USA Today at the time.

Prior to her firing, Loughlin had been on “When Calls The Heart” for six seasons. She was also let go from “Fuller House.”

Here’s a brief video about how the show handled her role.

Loughlin Wanted To Return To Acting

It had previously been reported that Loughlin was eager to return to acting once her college admissions scandal was behind her.

“She previously expressed that she would love to act again at some point,” a source told People Magazine at the end of last year. “She always loved her career. She loves filming and creating movies.”

“[Lori] would love to start working again one day, but she is scared people won’t work with her,” another source told Entertainment Tonight days after her release from prison. The source added that Loughlin has already “had her team put out feelers.”

This latest news also comes as Loughlin’s 21-year-old daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli is competing on “Dancing With The Stars.”

However, people are still throwing shade at Olivia Jade:

With both of them landing roles on television shows, it’s yet to be seen if Hollywood will forgive Loughlin. But, she did pay her debt.
