Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was invited to partake in special ceremonies at Wrigley Field Tuesday night.
McGregor delivered both the first pitch and ceremonial signing of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the Chicago Cubs vs. Minnesota Twins contest.
And he made headlines – and social media vibes – for both.
While the Irish prized fighter might be a special one inside the Octagon – and even the boxing ring – he struggled to find the plate on the baseball diamond.
“Notorious” sparked memories of world-famous rapper and movie star 50 Cent when he wound up and fired a pitch nearly into the crowd.
Take a look:
“The most devastating first pitch ever seen,” McGregor claimed. “The venom is there, the power is there.”
Later on during the night, McGregor was handed the microphone and led the fans in attendance singing. And again, he generated talk on social media for his efforts with his voice.
Marquee Sports, which airs Cubs games, interviewed McGregor during the contest.
“For me, (Chicago and Wrigley Field) it just feels like one big Irish pub,” he said.
It has been an interesting week for McGregor. As he continues to recover from his injury suffered vs. Dustin Poirier, he remains in the spotlight.
