The return of Brock Lesnar to WWE at SummerSlam did not take place as originally planned. Also, Triple H on what Samoa Joe does backstage to help him with the NXT product.

WWE Changed Brock Lesnar Return

SummerSlam went off the air with Brock Lesnar returning to WWE to confront Roman Reigns. So, Lesnar is officially back after being away since WrestleMania 36.

On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said Lesnar vs Reigns was originally set as the main event for WrestleMania in 2023. It takes palaces from Inglewood, California.

He also seemed to indicate how WWE had him return earlier than originally planned.

Now, plans have certainly changed. November’s Server Series and October’s Crown Jewel seem like possible cards for the bout.

And, next month’s Extreme Rules takes place in September. But, WWE might want the match at a larger event.

Plus, Crown Jewel takes place from Saudi Arabia. They are known to offer huge paydays that Lesnar would not want to pass up that opportunity.

Reigns and Lesnar have a long history. They are once again feuding, with the twist being where does Paul Heyman’s allegiance stand.

As for next year’s WrestleMania 38, the idea is Reigns vs The Rock. Catch WrestleMania 38 from Dallas, Texas.

Samoa Joe’s Backstage NXT Job

Before WWE, Samoa Joe was already a known name. He was a top star around the United States, with impressive runs in Ring Of Honor and Impact Wrestling.

After a 10 year run in Impact Wrestling, where he was a former World Champion, he opted not to re-sign. Instead, he headed to WWE’s NXT brand.

He won the NXT Championship twice before joining the main roster. Then, he ran into a slew of injuries.

Still, when healthy, Joe was pushed in or around the main event scene. He was a fan favorite and worked the RAW announce table for over a year, while out with a concussion.

Then, right after WrestleMania 37, he was released. Quickly, WWE discovered their mistake and Triple H had Joe return to NXT.

Currently, he is a wrestler, but much more. Triple H tried to clarify Joe’s backstage role in NXT during a recent media call.

“He’s a little bit of everything, but he’s sort of like a Regal,” said Triple H. “He can sit here and I can have a conversation with him after.”

“And, he’s talking about everything that people are bringing to the table with this. Not ‘do I think they’re technically sound?’ not whatever.”

“We can talk about every aspect of it and what works and what doesn’t, what needs to happen. We send him places.”

“He can represent, all those things. That’s where he works. We’re thrilled to have him.”

WWE was lucky to get Joe back. NXT is undergoing some major changes and we will have to see how that effects Joe.

Meanwhile, he has plenty of opponents ready for a shot at his newly won NXT World Championship.
