American Olympic wrestler and Texas native Tamyra Mensah-Stock gushed pride and praised the U.S. after taking home the gold medal in the 68-kilogram class freestyle wrestling final.

Throughout this year’s Olympics, American athletes like Megan Rapinoe and Gwen Berry have made headlines for disrespecting the United States and publicly protesting against our country.

Not Mensah-Stock. She wears her American pride like a superhero cape!

Mensah-Stock said in this same interview that she always knew that she had what it took to win a gold medal.

“I pray that all the practice, the hell that my freaking coaches put me through pays off and every single time it does and I get better and better,” she said. “It’s so weird that there is no cap to the limit that I can do and I’m excited to see what I have next.”

Olympian Wants To Inspire American Women

Mensah-Stock also said that she is hoping that she can serve as an inspiration to American women everywhere.

“It means that they see someone like themselves on that podium someone like Helen [Maroulis] on the podium showing them that just because you’re a female it doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish the biggest of goals and being an Olympic champ is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life,” she added.

As for what her next goal is, the Texas native said, “I can’t wait to be home with my husband and my dog to celebrate with them.”

It’s so nice to see an American Olympian actually take pride in her country in this way!

If only there were more athletes like Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the world.
