Gable Steveson

Even before he became an international household name, Gable Steveson had the attention of the UFC and WWE.

Now, the Olympic gold medalist will be able to demand whatever he wants when he decides to take the next step.

During the recently completed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Steveson capped things off with an improbable comeback. He stunned the reigning world champion with two late takedowns, winning gold.

And in the process, Steveson started a bidding war that will be fun to follow.

Both the UFC and WWE have made it known they want to sign him. Steveson is an athletic freak, having dominated the NCAA scene as a wrestler for Minnesota.

He could still return to the amateur ranks and wrestle, and with the new NIL passed there, make some money.

Will he?

Only time will tell.

At 21 years old, Steveson has plenty of time to decide what he wants to do. Former UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo discussed that recently.

“The impossible is nothing for whatever you decide to do after wrestling,” Cejudo posted. “Whether it’s Wrestling, NFL, WWE, or UFC.”

Ben Askren, who has experience both wrestling and MMA, echoed those thoughts.

“Give (Steveson) 18 months training MMA and tell me who on earth is beating him?” Asken asked. “Freaking NO ONE.”
