Meghan Harry Press

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continued to push their “woke” agenda this week when they called out what they claim is the “inequity and racism” that still exists in the media these days.

The couple took to their Archewell website to voice their support for a coalition of British journalists who want “stronger initiatives to combat the underrepresentation, inequity and racial bigotry that still persist in this important industry.”

This stems from the can of worms Meghan and Harry opened in their landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey when Meghan said about the UK media, among other things, “From the beginning of our relationship, they were so attacking and incited so much racism.”

The Society of Editors, an industry group, published an article in response to Meghan and Harry’s claims saying the British press is “not bigoted” and has a responsibility to hold “the rich and powerful to account.”

However, many journalists did not agree with the SoE response and have since written two open letters

Now, Meghan and Harry are helping to promote their cause as evidenced by their support detailed below.

Meghan And Harry Sound Off

This is the latest phase of their lengthy battle with the British press over the approach and tone of their coverage.

“Archewell is a proud supporter of journalistic diversity and news media organizations that are committed to reporting the truth, uncovering untold stories and giving voice to the voiceless,” Meghan and Harry said. “In every corner of the world, members of the media are using their power — and responsibility — to inform the public, teach communities, battle misinformation and inspire change.”

“We also applaud the work of independent media, nonprofit newsrooms and trusted local news collectives,” they added. “They demonstrate the deep need for this critical profession to thrive and evolve, particularly in terms of racial equity and representation in news-gathering and newsrooms.”

Meghan And Harry Supporting Groups Changing Media

Meghan and Harry went on to reveal some groups they are supporting that they hope will lead to changes in media.

“That’s why we support groups like The PressPad Charitable Foundation (which helps young people of diverse backgrounds gain entry into the journalism industry) and URL Media (a multi-platform network focused on community media organizations that directly serve and reflect their audiences),” they concluded.

Harry has long had a contentious relationship with the press.

It dates back to when his mother Princess Diana was killed in a car crash while being chased by paparazzi in 1997.

He’s previously compared the media’s unhealthy obsession with his mother to what his wife Meghan faced during her time as a royal in the United Kingdom.

“… My deepest fear is history repeating itself,” he said in October of 2019, according to Fox News. “I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”

Meghan Sues The Media

Meghan sued Associated Newspapers in 2019 for invasion of privacy and copyright infringement for publishing letters she had written to her father that she claimed were meant to be private.

A judge later ruled in her favor, saying that Meghan “had a reasonable expectation that the contents of the letter would remain private.”

Meghan and Harry’s latest statement indicates that their war with the media won’t be ending anytime soon.

They won’t be satisfied until the press is as “woke” as possible when it comes to reporting on them and their leftwing views.
