Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Oprah Interview Nominated For Emmy – Social Media Erupts

Hollywood’s obsession with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was punctuated on Thursday with an Emmy Award nomination for their controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Meghan And Harry’s Oprah Special Scores Emmy Award Nomination

According to Entertainment Tonight, the explosive special that Meghan and Harry shamelessly used to trash the British Royal Family was nominated for an Emmy Award in the “Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special” category.

During the bombshell interview, the couple claimed to have faced racism from within the Royal Family. Meghan even went so far as to say that she felt suicidal during her time as a royal.

Social media users have already let it be known that they are not happy about this Emmy nomination.

‘The Crown’ Is Nominated For An Emmy As Well

This was not the only nominee with ties to the Royal Family.

Netflix series “The Crown” came out with a whopping 24 nominations. The show, which is a fictionalized account of the lives of the Royal Family through the years, is incredibly popular with fans.

“Thank you to the Television Academy,” said the show’s creator Peter Morgan said. “We are all pinching ourselves that after four series, ‘The Crown’ is still being embraced and enjoyed in this way.”

“Behind the scenes, this show has an immense, dedicated and incredibly hardworking crew of world-class talent,” he added. “So, these nominations are gratefully received in recognition of all their outstanding work which continues to inspire me every day.”

Emma Corrin Celebrates Her Emmy Nod

Emma Corrin, who was also nominated for playing Princess Diana on the show, also released

“It Is Absolutely Essential That I See The Queen!” Corrin said jokingly. “Huge congratulations to my wonderful co-star and mentor Olivia Colman. It’s an unbelievable honour to be nominated in this category alongside you and such other wonderfully talented actors.”

“This nomination only exists because of Josh and all my family on The Crown,'” she added. “Every part of my involvement in telling this story has felt like a dream I don’t want to wake up from – I’m so happy and so honored by the recognition. Thank you!”

No ‘The Crown’ For Meghan And Harry But Maybe An Emmy?

Thus far, Meghan and Harry are not featured in “The Crown”. In fact, show runners have said they plan to end the Netflix series before it reaches their time period.

“I just think you get so much more interesting [with the passage of time],” Morgan told The Hollywood Reporter a few months ago. “I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.”

“Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end,” Morgan continued, later adding, “I don’t want to write about them because to write about them [so soon] would instantly make it journalistic, and there are plenty of journalists already writing about them.”

“The Crown” is a high-quality production that generally portrays Queen Elizabeth in a favorable light. It’s easy to understand why the popular Netflix series was nominated.

However, it’s unfathomable how Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey might receive any Emmy nomination as well. Was the  “Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special” category just that sparse?

Meghan and Harry being rewarded with Hollywood accolades for throwing his family under the bus would be so 2021.

Here’s hoping they don’t win. The last think Meghan Markle deserves is this Emmy on her mantle.

Though, given how obsessed the liberal world of Hollywood is with Harry and Meghan, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them walk away with an Emmy in hand.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
