The late evangelist Billy Graham’s original family home that he shared with his wife Ruth has been put up for sale to help pay for his granddaughter’s medical bills.

Billy Graham died February 21, 2018; his wife Ruth passed away in 2007.

Graham Family Home Up For Sale

You can take a look inside the original home of the Graham family below.

The wooden cottage has been listed for $599,000. Graham’s wife and children lived there while he traveled the world spreading the word of God.

“The charming cottage has a storied history — it was the family’s residence during the time the evangelist became a household name,” reads a press release obtained by The Christian Post. “Located at 198 Mississippi Road, the four-bedroom, two-bath home is being marketed exclusively by Brian Etheridge of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Asheville office.”

Graham’s Daughter Ruth Speaks Out

Graham’s daughter Ruth added that her parents purchased the home back in the 1940s.

It was selected because it was right across the street from my grandparents,” Ruth said. “I was born during the time my family lived in the house. The Los Angeles Crusades and [my father’s] tour of England happened during those years. … it is where it all began.”

Ruth explained to the Ashville Citizen-Times that she is selling the home to help pay her daughter’s medical bills. Her daughter has a rare disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).

This disorder affects all different parts of the body, including the lungs, kidneys and the lymphatic system.

“My youngest daughter was diagnosed with a very rare disease that attacks women of childbearing age and there will be some significant medical bills in her future,” Ruth said. “I am so grateful that I have this provision that I can make like any mother who would move Heaven and earth when your child needs you.”

Graham’s Granddaughter Doesn’t Have Much Time

She went on to say that her daughter has had this “diagnosis for about three or four years.”

“And they say from that time forward, you have six to eight years,” she said. “So the time is growing close.”

Ruth, who is the third of Graham’s five children and is the owner and manager of the home, reportedly asked her siblings if they wanted to buy it before putting it on the market.

A spokesman for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said that the five Graham siblings “love each other deeply and support each other.”

The home has been available as a vacation rental since 2019.

It’s sad to see that the Graham family is going through such a heartbreaking health crisis right now.

Please join us in saying a prayer for Ruth Graham and her family during this difficult time.
