Victoria’s Secret is undertaking a major brand makeover. The lingerie giant is ditching their legendary Victoria’s Secret Angels and replacing them with ‘trailblazing’ individuals like Megan Rapinoe, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, transgender models, and more.
The iconic lingerie retailer is risking alienating its loyal customers to go full on woke. Victoria’s Secret is shifting focus to what they believe women want. And they believe these new models are what women want to be like rather than supermodels.
“When the world was changing, we were too slow to respond,” CEO Martin Waters said. “We needed to stop being about what men want and to be about what women want.”
The Angels are being replaced by “VS Collective,” which is comprised of seven spokesmodels. It’s not just about photographs as the VS Collective factor heavily in a podcast.
In addition to Rapinoe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, others in the VS Collective are South Sudanese refugee and model Adut Akech, photographer and #Girlgaze founder Amanda de Cadenet, model and inclusivity advocate Paloma Elsesser, Chinese freestyle skier Eileen Gu, and Valentina Sampaio, a Brazilian transgender model.
Rapinoe is likely the most recognized of the bunch. Not only is she the Captain of the United States Women’s Soccer Team, she is a left wing activist.
She kneels for the National Anthem. She promotes Democrats and is a staunch advocate for equal pay. Rapinoe has demanded to be paid as much as male soccer players even though women’s soccer doesn’t generate the same high dollar revenue. Rapinoe is also a lesbian.

Last year, Sampaio became the first transgender model featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Victoria’s Secret has not stated if there will be accommodations made to the actual products to better fit their new marketing demographic.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is Indian actress, singer, and film producer and the winner of Miss World 2000. She also the wife of singer Nick Jonas.
While Megan Rapinoe might shatter the stereotype of a Victoria’s Secret model, she can certainly pull off being scantily clad as you can see from her Sports Illustrated pictures below.
What Victoria’s Secret fails to understand is that while men don’t wear their lingerie, they are typically the object of its affection.
Women buy it to feel sexy – and also attractive for their man. Their loyal customers are much different than those of Hanes.
Victoria’s Secret is risking it all by making this shift.
