Prince Edward Spills Tea About The Royal Rift With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

Prince Edward went there in an interview. While other members of the family have been mum about Prince Harry’s public battle with the Royal Family, the Queen’s youngest son openly discussed it with CNN.

He was giving an interview to commemorate the 100th birthday of his father, Prince Philip who died on April 9.

Naturally, a question about this elephant in the room came up. And, Edward’s answer to this Royal drama is likely relatable to most people.

While the Royal Family have tremendous advantages in life, at the heart of it all they are still a family.

And as Prince Edward points out, families have their disagreements and battles.

Prince Harry’s Public Battle With The Royal Family

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle left England and established a new life in California.

As shocking as that was, that drama was only beginning.

It came to a head when the duo sat down with Oprah Winfrey and accused Harry’s family of racism and being neglectful and dismissive of the couple’s mental health challenges.

Harry ratcheted up his rhetoric in more interviews where he accused the Queen and Prince Charles of being bad parents.

Things bubbled over last week when Harry and Meghan’s daughter was born. They named her Lilibet, after the Queen who they are both waging a public relations war against.

Edward had a simple answer for it all. It’s drama similar to what many families experience.

Despite calling the situation “very sad,” he wishes his nephew only happiness.

“It’s difficult for everyone but that’s families for you,” Prince Edward said. “We wish them the very best of luck. It’s a really hard decision.”

Meghan and Harry claimed the media’s involvement in their lives was too much to handle.

It was a driving force behind their decision to leave Royal life behind.

Edward told CNN that this is something they all have experienced.

While the media’s obsession with each family member differs over time, it is something they have to expect and deal with. It is part of being a member of the Royal Family.

“I Stay Way Out Of It”

“Of course, you know. I mean it’s . . . there are all sorts of issues and circumstances there. We’ve all been there. I stay way out of it. It’s much the safest place to be,” Prince Edward revealed

“Listen, weirdly we’ve all been there before. We’ve all had excessive intrusion and attention in our lives. And we’ve all dealt with it in slightly different ways, and listen, we wish them the very best of luck. It’s a really hard decision,” the Earl of Wessex continues.

When asked about Lilibet’s birth and the accompanying questions about Harry getting permission to the Queen’s nickname, Edward deflected. Instead, he had a cheerful message for the new parents.

“Well, we just wish them all happiness. That’s fantastic news and absolutely, I hope they’re very happy,” the Prince said.

Prince Philip’s 100th Birthday

When the interview pivoted back to his father’s 100th birthday, Prince Edward kept it upbeat rather than focusing on the family’s grief.

Prince Philip did not want to see his own centenary and he made that known.

“From a selfish point of view, we would have loved it if he had been here and been with us. But then birthdays were not necessarily his . . . he didn’t really want all the fuss and bother,” Edward says.
