Bill Cosby To Be Released From Jail As Court Overturns His Sex Assault Conviction

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has given Bill Cosby a get out of jail free pass.

The highest court in the Keystone State has overturned the comedian’s sex assault conviction. Cosby has served over two years of a three-to-ten year sentence.

He said he would serve the full term before he acknowledged his guilt.

He had been denied parole in May because he refused to participate in sex offender program.

Now, he doesn’t have to make that choice as he is set to be released from a Pennsylvania state prison.

Conviction For Drugging And Sexual Assaulting Victim

Cosby had been found guilty for sexually assaulting Andrea Costand.

“America’s Dad” was convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Costand, a Temple University employee, at his estate.

The judge allowed one other accuser to testify when a jury was deadlocked.

On retrial, he allowed five accusers to testify. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court said that additional testimony led to the vacating of the conviction.

Cosby was the first celebrity to be convicted during the #MeToo era. Now, he is the first to get out of jail as well.

The original accusations shocked many Americans who tuned into “The Cosby Show” during the 1980s.

Bill Cosby was viewed as a role model. His blockbuster show crossed racial barriers as it was beloved and watched by families of all races.

Cosby was a lifelong advocate for education and family causes.

When the public learned of these repeated accusations from women over the course of decades, it completely smashed the narrative of who Bill Cosby was.

Now, Bill Cosby will be released from jail.

No Further Prosecution

The 83-year-old actor will not have to worry about losing his freedom again over these accusations.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court banned further prosecution.

Geraldo Rivera believes Cosby’s release will give another #MeToo villain some hope.

While Bill Cosby is a free man, it is unlikely his previous fans will roll out the red carpet for his return.
