Jon Moxley has been to war in the ring, leading to Renee Paquette cringe. Also, WWE decided against a debut that was set for last Friday’s SmackDown.
Since leaving WWE, Jon Moxley has shown a much more violent side. It is nothing new as he had the same mentality before joining WWE.
On The Wrestling Inc. Daily, they sat down with his wife and former WWE commentator Renee Paquette. They got to talking about Moxley’s recent matches and if they ever became too violent.
That led to talk of his Unsanctioned Match with Kenny Omega early in the early days of AEW.
“When him and Kenny Omega had their first deathmatch style match, I was watching from home, and I’m like, ‘Good god,’ said Paquette. “But when Kenny shoved the glass in his mouth, I was like, ‘Okay, that’s too much. That’s crazy.’”
“So that one got me, and then also, I believe it was landing on the thumbtacks and then had the alcohol poured over his back. At least it was sterile and clean, but I could imagine the pain.”
“It was really next level, and you could tell that they had something to prove that night. But yeah, they’re very first match together, that was them kind of figuring out their chemistry together in the ring as well and kind of figuring out what they want to do.”
“And for a lot of people to not imagine Kenny Omega in that style of match, I think it just added all of these layers to Kenny in that situation [and] Jon Moxley outside of WWE doing the thing that he loves to do. They were not going to leave any stone unturned for that.”
She added that the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch was also fantastic. Although, she knows fans will remember the dud explosion at the end.
Omega and Moxley might not be done. The Unsanctioned Match went to Moxely, but Omega evened things by taking his AEW Championship.
Therefore, do not be surprised if they meet again.
As for the violent matches, Moxley does not seem to be slowing down. He is expected to face Nick Gage down the road and that should be brutal.
On the throwback edition of SmackDown, WWE made some late changes. One of those saw Reckoning’s (Mia Yim) in-ring debut get scratched.
Reckoning joined the main roster over the summer as part of Retribution. The stable quickly flopped and they quickly became an afterthought.
The stable split shortly before WrestleMania as all the members turned on Mustafa Ali. Now, the group has been divided between RAW and SmackDown.
Mace and T-Bar are teaming, minus the masks. They seem to have a possible alliance with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
It has been reported that Reckoning and Slapjack are on SmackDown. As of now, they have yet to debut on the blue brand.
Despite Reckoning being on the main roster, she has yet to compete. Therefore, she remains the only member of the former stable that has not wrestled.
We know she can wrestle after spending some time in NXT. She never won a championship, but was always in contention for a shot at the gold.
