WWE was throwing around the idea of holding a Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 37 this year. However, it sounds like this match was altered. More details below.

WrestleMania 37 Match Altered

For fans who tuned in to Monday Night RAW, it was announced that a Women’s Tag Team Turmoil bout is on the card for the first night of WM 37.

The tag team who wins this match will go on to challenge the WWE Women’s Tag Champs, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, on night two of the event.

WrestleVotes on Twitter recently reported that a concept thrown around before the Tag Team Turmoil was a Women’s Battle Royal.

The idea was that the final two females standing in the ring would transform into a tag team. The ladies would then move on to WrestleMania’s second night to challenge Jax and Baszler for the titles.

WrestleMania Déjà Vu

The Women’s Battle Royal idea pitched for WM 37 is similar to something of the past.

Rewinding to WrestleMania 15, D’Lo Brown and Test were the final two competitors in the ring for a Men’s Battle Royal. They’d move on to lose to Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett.

Tamina Snuka and Natalya, Lana and Naomi, Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose, as well as Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan are set to participate. The Tag Team Turmoil match, this Saturday.

There’s a graphic floating around that implies Carmella and Billie Kay might be added to the match. Only time will tell.

Speaking of Nattie Neidhart, could her cousin Davey Boy Smith Jr. be headed for a WWE return? Sounds like this is the case! Who would be excited to see him come back?

Superstar Likely Returning To WWE

Davey Boy Smith Jr. was an up-and-coming WWE superstar, working for the company from 2006-2011.

He’d move on from the WWE to work at other promotions like Major League Wrestling (MLW) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

Seems like there is a good chance that fans may see him back in a WWE ring, soon.

Reports in the past have surfaced stating that AEW, Impact, All Japan, MLW, as well as the WWE had shown interest in Smith. The talent confirmed he had been chatting with the WWE.

All arrows were pointing to an NXT UK run. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this hard to do.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently chimed in on this. He noted that he’d been told Davey Boy Smith Jr. signed with the WWE a while back.

AEW Interest?

Meltzer also stated he wasn’t sure if AEW made Smith an offer. According to Dave, he did meet with Tony Khan last year at a party. Plus, Jim Ross is very high on Smith.

The WWE has shown interest in Smith Jr. for a while now. His MLW contract made it difficult for him to jump to the WWE. His contract expired in late 2020.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. recently inducted his legendary dad, Davey Boy Smith, into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The event will air on Peacock, Tuesday, April 6th.
