Despite working for rival promotions, Edge is quite positive about his tag team partner Christian moving to AEW. In fact, the Hall of Famer seems to be genuinely happy for Christian.

When speaking to Sports Illustrated, Edge had the following to say.

“You know, I’m not bummed. I want him to be happy, and I want him to get the respect that he deserves. Because I’d like for him to get the on-air respect that the locker room shows him.”

“Because If you ask anyone within our industry, he’s one of the names where people go, ‘Man, that dude.’ Like, if you watch the latest Broken Skulls Sessions with Randy Orton, and you watch Steve and Randy talk about Jay and what he brings to the table.”

“So I just want him to be wherever he’s going to get that respect. Because whatever the initials are, he’s my best friend.”

“I want him to be happy, and I want him to be able to do hopefully what I get to do do, which is go out on your own terms, and see this thing through properly instead of just like, ‘You’re done.’ ‘Wait, what? I’m what?’ We’ve both been in that scenario. So I just want him to go wherever that’s gonna be.”

Different Roads To Success

Even though they were tag team partners, their paths in the singles division could not have been more different.

When Edge broke through in the WWE singles division, he became an 11-time world champion. Years later, he was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Christian on the other hand, had quite a different route in the singles division. After all, the WWE seemed to focus solely on Edge.

Eventually, Christian left the WWE and decided to make his way in TNA. He would become a champion and a main event attraction for the indie promotion.

Over the years, Christian made sporadic appearances in the WWE. However, he was forced to retire in 2014 after suffering a series of concussions.

Despite his retirement, Christian was never inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. But, his friend Edge was inducted after his retirement.

Of course, both Christian and Edge eventually returned to wrestling post retirement. But instead of going to the WWE, Christian decided to choose AEW instead.

Considering his track record with the WWE, it is no wonder that Christian chose AEW instead. He will finally get the recognition and veteran status the WWE denied him for years.

Yet, despite the move to AEW, I would not rule out a Hall of Fame induction for Christian. And maybe one day, he’ll reunite with Edge on our television screens.

For now, we can enjoy all the new moments both Edge and Christian provide individually.
