Candace Cameron Bure Announces Son Lev’s Engagement Is Off, Dashing Her ‘Hot Grandma’ Hopes

Last year, we reported that Lev, the 21 year-old son of Candace Cameron Bure, was engaged and the 45 year-old former “Fuller House” star was gushing about how she couldn’t wait to become a “hot grandma.”

Unfortunately, it looks like Bure’s “hot grandma” hopes are temporarily dashed as son Lev won’t be marrying anytime soon.

Candace Cameron Bure Announces Son Lev’s Engagement Is Called Off

Now, however, Bure has revealed that her son Lev Bure’s engagement to his girlfriend Taylor Hutchison has been called off. 

“Sorry, You didn’t get the memo?” Bure joked to US Weekly on Monday. “We didn’t make an announcement, but yeah, he’s no longer getting married.”

She went on to assure fans that Lev is doing “great” after the engagement was called off.

“It was a mutual decision, so nobody’s upset and heartbroken,” Bure continued. 

Mom Gushed About Engagement In November

This was a strikingly different tone to the one that Candace Cameron Bure had when discussing the engagement back in November, when she appeared to be looking forward to this next stage of life for her family. 

“We love them unconditionally,” Bure said at the time. “We will want to be a part of [their] lives, want to be a part of the grandkids’ lives. I don’t want to do anything to rock the boat. I just want to be there to support.”

She added that she wanted to be the “best mother-in-law in town” and was even excited to be “the hot grandma.”

Candace Cameron Bure’s Son Lev Announced Engagement In August

Lev is the oldest son of the three children that Bure shares with her husband, former professional hockey player Valeri Bure, who she has been married to for 25 years this year. 

Bure had announced Lev’s engagement on Instagram last August.

“Last night my son @levvbure proposed to his beautiful girlfriend We are SO excited for these cuties!!! #Engaged!” she wrote in the caption alongside an image of the proposal. “And this mama/mama-in-love can’t wait for wedding planning shenanigans.”

Candace Cameron Bure Talks Mother’s Day

This week, however, Bure is focused firmly on the future. In her new interview, she also talked about how her family is preparing for Mother’s Day next month. 

“I’m a big sucker for cards, like, a huge sucker for cards. So, if my kids write me a card or even a letter and they write it through words, it is my favorite gift,” she said.

“And all three of my kids are very different,” Bure continued. “They know I love it. So some are very short and sweet and some are very long. I just want to be around my husband and my kids.”

At just 21 years of age, Lev certainly has more than enough time to walk down the aisle. Here’s hoping that this was the right decision for him, and that he ends up walking down the aisle when he’s ready at some point in the future. 

I think we can all agree that Candace Cameron Bure will make one heck of a grandma some day!
