Cedric The Entertainer Praises Bill Cosby For Helping Black People Even Though He’s In Prison

Cedric The Entertainer took to social media this week to praise Bill Cosby for all that he’s done to help black people despite the fact that the former “The Cosby Show” star remains in prison for sexual assault.

Cosby, 83, even responded to Cedric from behind prison walls, both on Twitter and through a spokesperson.

Malcolm Jamal Warner, who played Cosby’s son on “The Cosby Show,” has responded to Cedric’s remarks as well.

Cedric The Entertainer Praises Cosby

Cedric closed out Black History Month by posting a video in which he lauded Cosby for his accomplishments, writing in the caption, “The controversy of his current situation is not what these (sic) post are about!”

“He was one of the first Black Men we saw on TV that was truly his own boss,” Cedric added. “He taught us to know our worth in this business, He showed us how to give back to our communities and institutions.’

After saying that Cosby “was/is funny” and that he “ruled” on “near every platform,” Cedric closed out the post by saying that “he had to be shouted out, for his contribution to the Black History of Comedy.”

Cosby Responds To Cedric

Cosby took to Twitter from prison to respond by saying, “I plan to do more, too. Thank you very much for feeling, knowing & keeping the legacy alive through your great work.”

Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesman, told TMZ that the comedian has another message for the world that is anything but humble.

“Cedric is a king of comedy but I’m the original king of comedy,” he quoted Cosby as saying. “When I get out — I can’t wait to show him how’s it done.”

The “when I get out” part seems optimistic at best, given the fact that Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison in 2019 for drugging and sexually assaulting an employee of Temple University in 2004, according to USA Today.

It is believed that Cosby will serve the full 10 years, given his stubborn refusal to ever admit any wrongdoing whatsoever.

Should he indeed serve 10 years, he would be around 92 upon his release.

Malcolm Jamal Warner Speaks Out

Malcolm Jamal Warner, who played Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” spoke out after Cedric posted to give his own thoughts on the disgraced comedian.

He talked about a previous interview where he said that “the legacy of the show has been tarnished” by the sexual misconduct allegations against Cosby.

“Yes, the legacy of the show has been tarnished because whenever we saw negative stereotypical images of Black people on tv and/or film we’ve always had The Cosby Show to hold up juxtaposed to that, but now that it’s taken off the air we no longer have that,” Warner said in this interview.

After blaming the media for twisting the words that he said in the interview, Warner said that he actually agrees with his TV sister Keshia Knight Pulliam.

She said “the legacy of the show could never be tarnished because of all the good it did for our culture.”

“The Cosby Show” brought joy to millions of people, but it’s important to remember that Cosby has also been accused by dozens of women of drugging and sexually assaulting them over the course of decades.

While the legacy of “The Cosby Show” can be debated, it’s hard to debate the fact that Cosby is locked up for his behavior.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
