World Lethwei Championship’s Female Fighters Of The Year

Shortly after getting things rolling, the World Lethwei Championship took aim at creating a women’s division.

It did not take very long for the female Lethwei fighters to begin making big waves.

The first female Lethwei fight in the WLC took place in 2018 with Nou Srey Pov besting Shwe Sin Min. A year later, the promotion made it a priority to create a women’s division.

At that time, Souris Manfredi put her foot down in proclaiming herself the best of the best.

Here’s a look at the three candidates for Female Fighter of the Year in World Lethwei Championship:

Souris Manfredi

The aforementioned Souris Manfredi has been nothing short of a dominating and impressive athlete since joining the World Lethwei Championship.

In August at WLC: Hideout Battle, Manfredi made history, earning the first-ever WLC Women’s Bantamweight World Championship.

Manfredi claimed the title with a victory over Maisha Katz in the main event. The bout was the first headline fight in the WLC upon returning from a hiatus due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Maisha Katz

For four rounds of action, Maisha Katz showed why she was selected to compete in the first-ever WLC Women’s Bantamweight World Championship match.

Katz pushed Souris Manfredi for 12 hard minutes of back-and-forth action before being unable to continue anymore. You can bet the setback has done nothing but ignited that fire in Katz to get back into title contention.

Miriam Sabot

Who could be next to challenge Souris Manfredi for her WLC Women’s Bantamweight World Championship? None other than potential WLC Female Fighter of the Year Miriam Sabot.

At WLC: Lethwei Showcase, Sabot put herself on notice with a second round finish over Petchnaree.

Online fan-voting is currently going on for the WLC year-end awards which will celebrate the tireless effort and dedication of the promotions world-class athletes, officials and coaches.

Voting can be done on the official website www.wlc.com.mm. Voting closes on December 12.
