Prince Harry undoubtedly thought he’d found the answer to all his problems when he and his wife Meghan Markle signed a multimillion dollar deal with Netflix that would surely set them up financially for years to come. Unfortunately for Harry, however, his Netflix deal is already backfiring on him, as it has landed him in “hot water” with the Royal Family over “The Crown.”
One of the streaming giant’s most popular original series, “The Crown,” is creating quite the stir with their unflattering portrayal of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
While Prince Harry once told a royal biographer that he watched “The Crown” and was “going to insist it stops before it reaches me,” he’s been notably silent when it comes to the the way his parents are portrayed on season four of “The Crown.” The latest season premiered on the streaming service last month.
So now we find his lucrative Netflix deal at the center of the conversation again given an apparent conflict of interest created by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is only adding to their rift with the Royals.
In September, Harry and Meghan signed a deal with Netflix to produce exclusive films and series thought to be worth upwards of $100 million.
The deal also marked yet another political move as the Royal couple’s programming will highlight “diverse voices in front of and behind the camera” and focus on “diverse hiring.”
Now the U.K. Express reports the Royal Family is not happy with Netflix given the streaming giant’s unflattering portrayals. While calls have gone out for Netflix to emphasize “The Crown” is a work of fiction, Prince Harry has yet to join in the call.
Season four of “The Crown” certainly does not portray the relationship between Charles and Diana as a positive one.
In fact, the series depicts the Royal couple’s marriage as loveless and even features them both cheating on each other.
In addition, “The Crown” graphically depicts Diana’s alleged battle with bulimia, showing her making herself throw up multiple times throughout the season.
It was previously reported that Harry’s brother Prince William was livid over the portrayal of their mother, so he can’t be happy about his brother’s ties to Netflix.
TalkRADIO host Mike Graham discussed further with journalist Olivia Utley on a recent episode of his show.
“Meghan and Harry are in a bit of trouble with this over the fact Harry has said nothing about the way in which his mother and father have been portrayed in this series,” Graham said.
“He has got himself into some hot water. He has got this deal with Netflix so he can’t really say anything,” Utley replied, adding that Harry will find himself in similar situations going forwards due to “massive conflicts of interest.”
“Netflix is where their next paycheck is coming from,” Utley explained. “Prince Harry is going to find himself in situations like this surely over and over again. How could he have just run off to Hollywood and not realized there are going to be huge consequences? There are going to be massive conflicts of interest all the time.”
“This whole ‘Crown’ Netflix thing is not going to go away,” Graham said. “I know some people are sick to death about hearing about Harry and Meghan.”
“But there are still people who believe Harry and Meghan are part of the Royal Family, there are still people who believe they are trading on that name,” he continued. “And I am afraid we are not going to stop picking them up on it. It is as simple as that.”

Prince William and Prince Harry have been fiercely protective of their mother’s memory ever since she tragically died in a car crash in 1997.
The fact that Harry has effectively signed his soul over to a streaming service that has negatively portrayed Diana to millions of people could easily be seen by William as an unforgivable betrayal.
In the end, this may make the growing rift between William and Harry wider than ever before.
