PFL Champion Kayla Harrison Ready To Challenge Anybody, Anywhere

An old saying in the fight game is “anybody, anyplace, anytime.” Reigning Professional Fighters League champion Kayla Harrison lives by that.

Harrison, who captured the 2019 PFL women’s lightweight crown, will test herself in a new division and in a different promotion later this month.

At Invicta FC 43 on November 20 from Kansas City, Missouri, Harrison will take on Courtney King in a featherweight contest. The bout airs as the co-main event live on UFC Fight Pass with Emily Ducote taking on Montserrat Ruiz for the strawweight title.

Harrison will return to the fastest growing and most innovative league, the PFL, in early 2021 as the promotion kicks off its new season live on ESPN. This, though, is a unique opportunity for her to test her skills and showcase her talents in a new weight class and in front of a new audience.

The 30-year-old Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, claiming her honors at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and again four years later in Rio de Janeiro in judo. She is also the 2010 World Judo Championships gold medalist, a two-time Pan American Games winner and two-time winner at the Pan American Judo Championships.

During her judo career, Harrison posted a 45-7 record. 

Two years after competing in Rio de Janeiro where she went a perfect 4-0, Harrison made her mixed martial arts debut for PFL. At PFL 2 in 2018, she bested Brittney Elkin with a first round submission. 

Later that year, Harrison showed she is more than just an accomplished fighter on the ground, finishing Jozette Cotton with strikes in the third round. She added another first round TKO victory to close out the calendar year over Moriel Charneski.

After a decision win vs. Larissa Pacheco and a first round submission of Morgan Frier, Harrison entered into the 2019 PFL Women’s Lightweight Tournament. 

She scored a first round submission over Bobbi Jo Dalziel before setting up a rematch with Pacheco. Once again, Harrison flexed her might, dominating Pacheco for five rounds to earn another title for her incredible resume.
