Lori Loughlin May Get Early Prison Release Because Of Christmas

Yesterday, we reported that former “Fuller House” star Lori Loughlin was a “wreck” one week into her two-month prison sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal. Now, it’s been revealed that she may end up being released early because of the Christmas holiday.

Lori Loughlin May Be Home For Christmas

Fox News reported that the website of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) states that Loughlin is currently scheduled to be released from prison on Sunday, December 27.

Though this is two days after Christmas Day, the BOP also explained how it handles the release of inmates whose dates of departure fall on a legal holiday, or as in Loughlin’s case, on a weekend.

“The Bureau of Prisons may release an inmate whose release date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, on the last preceding weekday unless it is necessary to detain the inmate for another jurisdiction seeking custody under a detainer, or for any other reason which might indicate that the inmate should not be released until the inmate’s schedule release date,” says the BOP’s website.

Lori Loughlin Reports To Dublin Federal Prison Early

Loughlin reported to prison in Dublin, California on October 30 even thought she didn’t need to begin her sentence until November 19.

But the “When Calls The Heart” actress reportedly decided to start early in the hopes of being home for Christmas.

Her plan was likely inspired by former college admissions scandal defendant and “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman being released after just 11 days of her 14-day sentence.

Of course, Huffman plead not guilty from the start while Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli wasted months of Federal resources while to fight the charges against them.

Eventually, though, when a guilty verdict seemed certain, the couple accepted a plea bargain for a lesser sentence.

The two plead guilty to charges that they paid $500,000 in bribe money to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team even though neither had ever rowed before.

Lori Loughlin Entered Prison Early For This Reason

“She hopes to be home by Christmas, but she’ll definitely be home by New Year’s,” a source told People Magazine. “She had everything in order, so she decided a couple of days ago to report to prison. She can put this behind her as she goes into 2021.”

Another source close to Loughlin said that she has been struggling in prison so far, describing her as a “wreck.”

“Lori tried her best to be brave and look at the end result but there was nothing that could dissipate her fears,” the source explained.

“It’s only two months but she’s dreading it. Her mind keeps telling her that something will go horribly wrong in prison or that her stay could be prolonged.”

“Lori really went into prison strong, she had her faith and the support of her family, but the first few days and road ahead are daunting,” another insider added.

It doesn’t help that Loughlin’s visitation and phone calls are restricted as part of FCI Dublin’s COVID-19 protocols.

The lack of contact with her loved ones has Lori Loughlin’s daughters Olivia Jade and Bella “distraught” as well.

You Reap What You Sow

Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli spent over a year fighting the charges against them and protesting their innocence before finally admitting what they did.

Because of that, one can’t help but feel that a little time behind bars to atone and think about what she did might be exactly what the Hollywood actress needs.
