Kids do the darnedest things, but a Louisiana boy might have taken the prize this year after stealing a school bus and taking it on a joyride. He even laughed as he floored the bus through the streets.
This kid is either going to be a race car driver or a common criminal by the time he turns 18.
Drivers got quite a shock when a school bus went flying by at a high rate of speed in Baton Rouge. After seeing footage of the high speed chase, it’s a miracle there were no casualties.
Joy Grader was one of those drivers who saw the bus approaching. It was such an unusual thing, especially on a Sunday that she took out her cell phone to record it.
“As he got closer and closer and closer, I saw it’s a little boy in there and he was laughing. He was like giggling on the way across Florida as he goes right past me. I’m like I can’t believe it’s a little boy,” the woman says.

Police said the 11-year-old boy was unable to reach the gas pedal while sitting in the driver’s seat so he had to stand to reach it.
Check out Joy Grader’s video in the tweet below.
Here’s another angle showing the boy’s erratic driving of the rogue school bus:
The school bus belonged to a private owner who subcontracted with Progress Head Start.
Apparently the bus had no keys in it, but had a push-to-start ignition.
The 11-year-old bus thief’s joyride came to a crashing halt when the bus struck a tree.
“It was just unbelievable to see something like that,” said homeowner Libby Smith. The crash happened in front of her home.
Smith said:
“You just don’t think of a 10-year-old boy driving a bus and being in control of a big bus like that.”
“Thank goodness he was OK, he was safe, but it was not your typical Sunday afternoon occurrence for sure. So we’re blessed that it didn’t do any more damage than it did.”
The youngster was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight, three counts of aggravated damage to property, and aggravated assault.
The boy’s identity has not be released to the public since he’s a juvenile.
BRPD Spokesman L’Jean McKneely said the boy drove the bus for about 45 minutes across Baton Rouge while being pursued. And, the thief allegedly taunted and flipped an officer off as police vehicles drove by.
He only came up to about the elbow of the police officers who arrested him.
The boy was handcuffed likely to drive home the seriousness of this crime in hopes that he will learn from the experience.
McKnealy said the 11-year-old told officers he did it “just to do it.”

Thankfully, nobody was injured during this crazy joyride. While this kid might have attained legend status, he’d better straighten out.
Lucky for him, this kid has some time before turning 18 and having to face jail time for such an act.
