Holly Holm Plans to “Let The Opportunity Come” , Following Dominant Win

Holly Holm ensured she remains in the bantamweight, title shot mix at UFC Fight Island 4. But the former champ is going to let the opportunities arrive at her door, rather than call them out.

Holm will “let the opportunity come”

Holm faced fellow contender Irene Aldana in the main event of Saturday’s card, and the legend demonstrated again she’s far from just a striker. Holm mixed in her wrestling with her stand-up, and recorded a dominant, decision win.

Well, due to the fact Holm is ranked #2 in the women’s bantamweight division, and because she’s a former champ, there’s always talk about her fighting for the belt again. But, following her impressive win on Saturday, Holm had this to say about her future (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I’m going to keep working hard,” Holm said. “That’s what I’m going to do. I know (dual champion Amanda Nunes has) got a lot doing on right now, with another fight already scheduled.

There’s some tough girls coming up. I feel like the 135-pound division’s always pretty stacked, so I’m not going to set my sights on something too hard.

I’m going to let the opportunity come and the next fight after the next fight. And whatever that may be, I’m going to put my heart and soul into it and do it again.”

And while discussing her performance specifically, the 38-year-old said this:

“It felt good to just go in there and get a dominating performance and not something that’s just too close,” Holm said.

“There’s fights I’ve had that are brawls and some are in the clinch, and I’m like trying to put it all together and be a well rounded fighter.

I felt I was able to do a lot of that tonight, but yes, I always want to do more.”

When you consider Holm is only two fights removed from being stopped by the champ-champ, Amanda Nunes, she is likely a few, key wins away from another title shot. But, don’t be surprised if Holm gets there.

Holm is open to Germaine de Randamie rematch

While Holm didn’t call anyone out after her latest win, she did relay she’s down to fight Germaine de Randamie again.

The two fought in 2017 and de Randamie won the fight via decision. But, due to some late blows de Randamie landed in the bout, the result was a controversial one.

“That’s definitely an option,” Holm said. “I think everybody probably thought her and I might meet up again in there, so we’ll see what happens. We’ll see where it goes from here.”

Holm – de Randamie II makes a lot of sense. The latter submitted Julianna Pena on Saturday, she’s currently ranked #1 in the division, and she’s one fight removed from a loss to Nunes.
