Emmy Nominated Sports Anchor Fired For Calling GOP Senator Tim Scott An ‘Uncle Tom’

Two-Time-Emmy-Award-nominated sports anchor Fred Gerteiny met with a nasty dose of karma this week when he was fired for a tweet calling Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) an “Uncle Tom.”

This is not an isolated incident of racism directed at black conservatives. And, as it turns out, liberals occasionally get a dose of their own medicine.

Sports Anchor Fred Gerteiny Fired For Racist Tweet

The cancellation was swift once social media caught wind of the racist comment. And, in this case, the sports anchor from Connecticut did not get a pass for directing his vitriol at a conservative.

News 12 Connecticut confirmed to The Hill that Fred Gerteiny has been fired for the since-deleted tweet directed at Senator Tim Scott.

“After reviewing the incident, the network released sports reporter, Fred Gerteiny, as a result of a racially insensitive comment,” the statement read.

“News 12 Networks has a zero tolerance policy for racism or improper conduct based on race, and prides itself on being an objective and unbiased multi-platform news company.”

The sports anchor’s tweet was posted in response to a story where Tim Scott, who is the only black Republican senator, discussed President Donald Trump‘s “stand back and stand by” comment in reference to the Proud Boys during Tuesday night’s debate.

“I think he misspoke in response to Chris Wallace’s comment,” Scott said. “He was asking Chris what he wanted to say. I think he misspoke. I think he should correct it. If he doesn’t correct it, I guess he didn’t misspeak.”

This did not sit well with Gerteiny, who fired back in a since-deleted tweet by writing, “Thanks Uncle Tom.”

Uncle Tom is a derogatory term that dates back to the 1852 Harriet Beecher Stowe book “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” according to NPR. In the book, the character of Uncle Tom is a slave who is happy to serve white people. These days, Uncle Tom is typically used to shame black conservatives, implying that they are traitors to their race.

Gerteiny issued an apology on Twitter before deleting his account.

“Earlier today, I tweeted a racially insensitive comment, when I referred to @SenatorTimScott as an ‘Uncle Tom,'” Gerteiny tweeted. “I apologize to the Senator, my colleagues @News12CT, and anyone else I may have offended with this deeply offensive tweet.”

Racism Against Black Conservatives

The racism that black conservatives face every day is nothing short of disgusting. People call them derogatory terms in the name of social justice and progressivism on the regular.

Uncle Tom being just one of these terms – and one that likely many who wield don’t truly understand.

This behavior just goes to show how closed minded the left really is to anyone who thinks differently than they do.

Liberals claim to be the party of “tolerance” and “racial justice,” but all of that goes out the window when they are confronted with a black conservative.

Damani Felder of “The Right Brothers” channel on YouTube took liberals task on this issue this week.

There’s nothing more triggering to a liberal these days than a black Republican who thinks for himself.

Anyone who refuses to buy into the left’s race-baiting propaganda is immediately cast out.
