Nike Launches Colin Kaepernick Jersey Celebrating 4th Anniversary Of Anthem-Kneeling Protests

Nike has upped its game – so to speak – in a continued effort to both cater to and profit from Colin Kaepernick by releasing a special jersey celebrating the fourth anniversary of his anthem-kneeling protests. 

Nike Releases Colin Kaepernick Jersey

The all-black jersey includes Kaepernick’s number 7 from when he played with the San Francisco 49ers and the words “True to 7” on the collar.

“Four years ago, I took a knee to protest against systemic racism and social injustice,” Kaepernick wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the jersey. “It was that day that the number on my jersey would come to represent something greater than football, something greater than me. Since then, the number 7 jersey has been a symbol for advancing the liberation and well-being of Black & Brown communities. Thank you for staying True.”

Yahoo Sports reported that the jersey cost $150, and it sold out within minutes of being released. 

But not everyone is on board with Kaepernick or the jersey:

Nike Has Honored Colin Kaepernick’s Anthem Kneeling Before

This is the second time Nike has released a jersey devoted to Kaepernick.

In February 2019, Nike released an all-black “Icon Jersey” with a white No. 7 on the front in honor of Kaepernick. That one sold out quickly as well.

Nike released a statement about Kaepernick’s jerseys:

“The Colin Kaepernick Icon Jersey 2.0 marks Nike’s continued product collaboration with Colin and celebrates those making a positive impact in their community through sport and education. This celebration is represented in the meaning behind the line, True to 7.”

And jerseys aren’t the only product where Nike has benefited from Kaepernick commercially.

In December of 2019, Nike released the “Air Force 1” shoe commemorating the date Colin Kaepernick first kneeled during the anthem in protest.

That was 2016, when Kaepernick catapulted into the headlines by taking a knee during the national anthem before his games while quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

Though he claimed to be doing this to protest against racial inequality in the United States, many saw the move as a clear sign of disrespect to the American flag and those who have fought and died for it. 

In the wake of the death of George Floyd in May, the NFL has been groveling to Kaepernick and submitting to the radical left by devoting itself to pushing for social justice. The league now welcomes players kneeling during the anthem. It even has social justice phrases like “End Racism” in the end zones on the field. 

The NFL’s Social Justice “Propaganda”

None of this has been enough for Kaepernick, however, who blasted the NFL’s social justice efforts as “propaganda” last Sunday. 

“While the NFL runs propaganda about how they care about Black Life, they are still actively blackballing Eric Reid for fighting for the Black community,” Kaepernick wrote on Twitter on Sunday. “Eric set 2 franchise records last year, and is one of the best defensive players in the league.”

Kaepernick loves pushing the narrative that he and Reid have been blacklisted by the NFL for their social justice efforts. Reid was the first player to kneel with Kaepernick on the 49ers team.

Kaepernick conveniently ignores his losing record with the 49ers during his final season of the team. It’s more likely that his lack of football talent is the real reason he hasn’t been signed again.

Nike’s continued martyrization of Kaepernick would be absurd if it wasn’t so downright disturbing.

Despite what Nike and the radical left say, Colin Kaepernick is no hero, and has only been out to obtain fame and fortune for himself from the very beginning.
