Ever since Khabib Nurmagomedov scored a decisive win over Conor McGregor in 2018, the lightweight champ hasn’t sounded overly interested in fighting his rival again. But, at times, the undefeated fighter has outlined a criteria for it to happen.

But, according to the star’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, Nurmagomedov has closed the book, for good, on granting McGregor a rematch.

Abdelaziz says McGregor can “forget” about a rematch

For a long time after Khabib tapped McGregour out in October, 2018, he argued the former champ would need to record several key wins, before he was eligible for a title shot. But, more recently, Nurmagomedov appeared to change his stance on that, somewhat.

Just last month, for example, Khabib said he would consider fighting McGregor again, if the latter beat Dustin Poirier once more. The champ made it clear, however, that if he defeats Justin Gaethje on October 24th, he’s hoping to fight Georges St-Pierre net.

But, the fact he outlined that specific, shorter path for McGregor, made headlines.

Fast forward to today, however, and that’s all apparently changed. Abdelaziz recently spoke with TMZ Sports, and he reported the UFC inquired about having Conor coach opposite of Khabib on TUF. The two would fight after the show concluded.

According to  Abdelaziz, Khabib had this response (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“I talked with Khabib yesterday,” Abelaziz said. “He said, ‘This man is human trash. He’s like garbage.

When you touch sh*t, you smell sh*t.’ He said, ‘He doesn’t earn the fight. You understand? He doesn’t earn the fight.’

Abdelaziz proceeded to blast McGregor over his recent Twitter activity, in which he shared images of an apparent text message exchange he had with White this past March. In the correspondence, McGregor called for fights with Diego Sanchez and Justin Gaethje.

According to Abdelaziz, if Gaethje wins the belt at UFC 254, he could be interested in fighting Conor. But, McGregor’s chances to face Khabib again are apparently, zero.

“Listen, if Justin wins, whatever, and he wants the easy payday, yeah, go ahead and fight Conor if you want.

But I don’t know if even Conor still in the conversations because Justin said, ‘I gotta give him an opportunity,’ but he didn’t want the fight.”

“…He can forget about Khabib. He can forget about the rematch. Done. Dead. Never. Khabib will never fight him.”

Reaction?

Given that Khabib has changed his criteria for McGregor receiving a rematch in the past, it’s possible that could happen again.

For example, if Conor did agree to fight say, Poirier and defeated him, decisively, maybe Nurmagomedov would agree to face his rival once more.

But, the belief is that if Khabib defeats Gaethje at UFC 254, he could be looking at having just one more bout. He’s made it clear he wants it to be with GSP.

Given all that’s transpired recently with McGregor, talk about him fighting Manny Pacquiao, his repeated call for a fight with Sanchez, it seems very unlikely we’ll see Nurmagomedov – McGregor 2.
