Dana White Has no “Expectations” Regarding Nick Diaz Comeback

A lot of fans seem to be buzzing about the recent news that Nick Diaz is apparently getting ready to fight in 2021. But, it sounds like Dana White will believe it when he sees it.

If you follow Diaz, you know that the Stockton star hasn’t fought since 2015, when he battled Anderson Silva. Over the years, there’s been a few times where Diaz has said he was thinking about fighting again, but, that has yet to happen.

More recently, however, Diaz’s manager reported that the fighter recently completed a test weight cut. The 37-year-old apparently did so, since Diaz is hoping to fight again in early 2021.

Well, following the latest card in the Dana White Contender’s Series, White was asked to comment on the recent news about Diaz (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“Listen, the Nick Diaz thing,” White said. “First of all, we would never have released that or done that.

We’ll see how this thing plays out. I don’t have any expectations whatsoever. We’ll see what happens.”

And when asked about whether talks are ongoing with Diaz and his camp, White said this.

“There’s been talking, but there’s been talking for years,” White said.

Understandable reaction

White’s reaction here is pretty understandable. As note above, there have been several times since 2015 when Diaz talked about fighting again, and it never happened.

Last year, following his brother Nate’s loss to Jorge Masvidal, Diaz expressed an interest in fighting again and there was talk about him possibly facing “Gamebred”. 

But, by all indications, 2020 is going to come and go without Diaz fighting.

The outspoken fighter currently carries a record of 26-9, with 2 no-contests.
