Valentina Shevchenko took note of the shocking submission win by Jennifer Maia Saturday night at UFC Fight Night on ESPN+.
While Shevchenko continues to recover from an injury, her scheduled opponent, Joanne Calderwood, took a fight with Maia.
That decision backfired, as the 31-year-old Brazilian locked up a first round armbar to secure the win and improve to 3-1 in her last four. The only loss was via decision to Katlyn Chookagian.
“See you soon Jennifer Maia,” Shevchenko tweeted moments after the bout.
The former Invicta FC champion could very well be the next title contender, as she gladly accepted the fight with Shevchenko.
