UFC 252: Colby Covington’s Picking “Natty GOAT” Daniel Cormier

Colby Covington, via his “Chaos” persona, is well known for trashing fighters and slinging insults. But, when it comes to the fighters in tonight’s headliner, Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, Covington has nothing but praise for the stars.

Covington is picking the “natty goat” Cormier

Miocic and Cormier are going to battle in the headliner of tonight’s UFC 252 card, which is going down at the Apex Facility in Las Vegas. It will mark the third time the two have fought.

Cormier ended Miocic’s record-long reign as heavyweight champion in 2018, by knocking him out in the first round. But, in their rematch last summer, Miocic reclaimed the belt by stopping the decorated wrestler in round four.

Well, recently Covington was asked to weigh in on tonight’s bout, and “Chaos” heaped praise on both men, particularly “DC” (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“I’ve got a lot of admiration and respect for Daniel Cormier,” Covington said. “He’s had a legendary career.

I made an Instagram post about him a year or two ago calling him the ‘Natty GOAT.’ I really do feel like he is the ‘Natty GOAT,’ and by that, I mean the natural GOAT.

He’s the natural greatest of all time.

“You see all these other guys, try to compare the GOATs, these are all guys that did steroids. So let’s talk about natural.

That’s what Daniel is. He’s the embodiment of a good person and a good soul. I wish him well this weekend.”

“Stipe’s another great person, too,” Covington stated. “He’s a firefighter, he’s a first responder, so I have to give a lot of love to him for what he does for the people of his city and around the world.”

“I wish those guys the best, and it’s really tough to pick a winner, because they’re both pretty good guys,” Covington explained.

“If I had to pick a winner, I’d probably go with ‘DC.’”

There’s no question that Cormier is one of the all-time greats. Not only did he win and defend the light-heavyweight and heavyweight belts, but his only defeats have also come against two other greats in Jon Jones and Miocic.

Further, as Covington noted, both heavyweights have been amazing ambassadors for the sport. The consensus is that whoever wins tonight fight, will be the greatest heavyweight in UFC history, if not ever.

Covington’s next bout

In terms of Covington’s career, the former interim welterweight champ is expected to face former champ and rival, Tyron Woodley, on September 19th.
