fans boo MLS soccer players kneel anthem

Major League Soccer (MLS) players just learned the hard way that patriotic Texas fans do not tolerate disrespect toward the National Anthem and the American flag. The soccer players were relentlessly booed by fans as soon as they took a knee during the pre-game anthem.

Major League Soccer Players Kneel For Anthem

Major League Soccer is the only professional sport in the United States that is allowing spectators to attend games. On Wednesday night, FC Dallas took on Nashville SC at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

As the national anthem began to play before the game, the players submitted to the radical left by taking a knee, as has become customary in virtually all sports these days.

These Texas fans, however, were not having any of it.

The Guardian reported that as soon as the soccer players began to kneel, boos erupted throughout the entire stadium. These Texan fans made it clear exactly what they think of people who disrespect America.

Dallas Player Whines About Being Booed

After the game, Dallas defender Reggie Cannon whined to reporters that he was disgusted by the way fans responded to his protest. He said:

“You can’t even have support from your own fans in your own stadium. It’s baffling to me. As a team we try to give the best possible product on the field and these last six months have been absolute hell for us. Absolute hell.

You got fans booing you for people taking a stand for what they believe in. Millions of other people support this cause and we discussed with every other team and the league what we’re going to do and we’ve got fans booing us in our own stadium. How disgraceful is that? Honestly, for lack of a better word, it pissed me off.”

Cannon went on to say that the players had actually asked for the anthem not to be played at all because it didn’t feel right to them right now.

“We had someone chanting U-S-A, but they don’t understand what kneeling means. They don’t understand why we’re kneeling. They can’t see the reason. They think we’re the ignorant ones,” Cannon said. “It’s incredibly frustrating. I’m sorry to have this tone, but you have to call it for what it is.”

“It hurts me because I love our fans, I love this club, and I want to see the support that the league has given us, that everyone has given us, from our fans,” he added.

No wonder the Texas fans booed him and his team. If Cannon didn’t want to get booed, perhaps he should have had some respect for the nation that millions of us love with all our hearts.

If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen, and if you don’t want to get booed, stand for the national anthem. It’s that simple.
