Kanye West Silences Critics With Three Coveted Gospel Music Award Nominations

Kanye West just received his first gospel music nomination for his album “Jesus Is King”. The Gospel Music Association also announced that Kanye is up for a Dove Award. The rapper’s transformation by faith has come full circle now that he’s being recognized for his outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry.

That’s quite a helping of crow for the critics who doubted Kanye’s turn to Christ.

Kanye Receives Gospel Music Association Nominations And Award  

The 43-year-old music mogul received three nominations, including rap/hip hop album of the year, traditional gospel album of the year and rap/hip hop recorded song of the year for his single “Follow God.”

The “Golddigger” artist shifted gears last year by using his music to bring the message of Christ to his fans. It has been a dramatic transformation for the Atlanta native.

Kanye added a new spin on gospel music and fans reacted immediately. “Jesus Is King” immediately shot up the charts. Not only did the album top the charts after its release, but all of the singles are on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week.

This is a huge honor for Kanye West, who proudly proclaims his Christian faith and is running for President.

A few years ago it might have been hard to to imagine Kanye releasing Gospel music. But Jesus can have a powerful and immediate impact on our life. 

“Serving God in everything that I can do is my job,” the presidential candidate said. “That’s why I’m here. That’s why I’m on the planet is to be in service and in fear, love, and service to God.”

“Jesus Is King” breaks the mold for Gospel music. It speaks to people at their level. That’s how you get the message across. You communicate with people in their language.

Kanye West did that with this album. So now he is being recognized for it. His faith-fueled music is having a transformative effect on people’s lives.

Kanye is introducing his listeners to Jesus.

Gloria Gaynor Also Nominated For Gospel Awards

Kanye West is not the only mainstream artist up for a Dove Award this year.

Disco Queen Gloria Gaynor is competing with West for gospel album of the year. The 76-year-old American singer is best known for her 1979 hit “I Will Survive”.

Gaynor also is nominated by the Gospel Music Association in the bluegrass/country/roots category for “Testimony.”
