Dolly Parton’s Black Lives Matter Quote Gets Celebrated On Nashville Mural

Last week, country music star Dolly Parton was asked about Black Lives Matter during an interview with Billboard magazine. Billboard’s article detailing her comments on Black Lives Matter turned the heads of some fans. And another was inspired to create a mural in Nashville commemorating the Dolly Parton’s words.

Dolly Parton Mural In Nashville Honors Black Lives Matter

Billboard wrote about Dolly Parton’s “unequivocal in her support of protestors and the Black Lives Matter” in an article following her interview. This ruffled the feathers of Dolly’s more conservative fans who see a difference between valuing black lives and supporting an overtly political, left-wing organization like Black Lives Matter.

And now a quote from that interview is emblazoned on a large mural for everyone to see in Nashville, Tennessee.

The mural was created by Nashville-based artist Kim Radford, who made it over the course of two days, finishing it on August 14.

She said afterwards that Dolly Parton’s comments supporting Black Lives Matter played a big role in the making of the mural.

“The day before I finished the mural, Dolly had an amazing press release about her upcoming Christmas album and her interview with Billboard. As I painted the final touches I knew her sassy loving quote — ‘Of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little White a**es are the only ones that matter?’ — would be a perfect finish to send out in my neighborhood,” Radford told CNN

“This piece was a passion project and the timing was a happy accident coinciding with her press.”

Dolly Parton Supports Black Lives Matter?

Radford was, of course, referring to specific comments that Parton made in her interview with Billboard last week.

“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen,” the country legend said. “And of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”

While Dolly’s personal comments don’t make it clear whether she supports the political Black Lives Matter organization or just values black lives, the Billboard article certainly makes it appear that the singer is invested in the movement.

And this is not the first time the “Jolene” singer aligned herself with a politically left movement.

In that same Billboard interview, Dolly addressed caving to the politically correct mob in 2017 by renaming her Civil War-themed Dixie Stampede dinner theater show.

Since many on the left find the word Dixie to be an “offensive” term and associate it with the Confederacy, she renamed her popular dinner attraction Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

“There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that,” Parton said of the name change.

“When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede,'” she added. “As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumba**. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”

Support Black Lives But Not The Anti-American Group

It’s somewhat surprising to see someone like Dolly Parton who came from humble beginnings subscribe to PC narratives. And potentially support such radical political movement.

Especially given the country music legend is known for her no-nonsense and down-to-earth attitude.

While black lives do indeed matter, as all lives do, the Black Lives Matter organization is about much more than that, and much of its manifesto is explicitly anti-American.

Perhaps someone should ask Dolly Parton if she supports the political group and have her clarify. Many of her conservative fans would be very interested to know where she really stands.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
