Curtis Blaydes has some news for everyone looking forward to Saturday night’s heavyweight main event bout with Alexander Volkov.
Be prepared for 25 minutes of a one-sided beatdown.
Of course, Volkov will have something to say about Blaydes’ plans for the headline bout at UFC on ESPN from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
“FYI if y’all were hoping to see a 25 minute stand up war you probably shouldn’t tune in to the main event cause I fully intend on ragdolling my opponent just figured I’d let y’all know ahead of time,” Blaydes posted on social media.
The 29-year-old Blaydes has positioned himself as a top contender in the division following three consecutive victories. That run includes a January second round TKO over former UFC champion Junior dos Santos.
Around a 2018 setback to Francis Ngannou, Blaydes is 8-0 with a no-contest in a bout he had won before having the result overturned due to a failed drug test.
Along with Blaydes vs. Volkov, the ESPN and ESPN+ main card will also feature Josh Emmett vs. Shane Burgos, Raquel Pennington vs. Marion Reneau, Belal Muhammad vs. Lyman Good and Jim Miller taking on Roosevelt Roberts.
