Henry Cejudo

Henry Cejudo will make headlines tonight on account of stopping Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. But, the bantamweight champ has likely dropped jaws, by announcing he’s retiring.

Round one

Cruz came out with his renowned movement. Cejudo fired in a hard leg kick moments in and then he planted a second not long after. Cejudo continued to wing leg kicks. Cruz attempted a knee but Cejudo countered with a takedown. Cruz quickly popped back to his feet. Cejudo flurried in with some hard punches that missed. Cejudo planted yet another leg kick. Cruz scored with a nice combo late in the frame.

Round two

Cruz stuck a right hand moments into round two. Cejudo continued to fire in leg kicks. Moments later, Cejudo went high with a kick but missed. Cruz scored with a nice right mid-round. Cejudo cracked Cruz with a solid right not longer after. Cruz changed levels and then fired in a left. The fighters clashed  heads and a cut was opened up on Cejudo. Moments after the fight was resumed, Cejudo floored Cruz with a booming knee. As Cruz tried to get back up, the ref stopped the fight.

Cruz protested the stoppage but he did take some heavy shots. After the bout, Cejudo proceeded to announce he’s happy with his career and that he’s retiring. Shocking news.
