Tony Ferguson

We were supposed to get Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje last month at UFC 249. Instead, we get it this Saturday night.

Ferguson and Gaethje collide for the interim UFC lightweight title from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

The bout has been shifted and will be the centerpiece to the UFC’s official return from the coronavirus pandemic.

Tony Ferguson

A former holder of the interim title, Tony Ferguson also previously won The Ultimate Fighter.

The 36-year-old Ferguson has won his last 12 fights dating back to 2013 and a decision loss to Michael Johnson. During that time, he’s earned wins over former UFC champions Rafael dos Anjos and Anthony Pettis, along with Kevin Lee and Donald Cerrone.

For Ferguson, it might not be rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, but Justin Gaethje will be quite the threat.

Justin Gaethje

Having held the World Series of Fighting title previously, Justin Gaethje knows what it takes to be a champion.

The 31-year-old was willing to step in on short notice and face Ferguson last month. Now, he gets nearly a full camp to prepare for him.

Gaethje has picked up three consecutive wins since a pair of setbacks to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier, topping James Vick, Edson Barboza and Donald Cerrone all via first round finish.

Of his 21 career wins, 18 have been via knockout.
