It has just been revealed that Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg is in talks to star in the new Netflix movie Our Man in New Jersey, an action film in which he would play a working class version of James Bond.
Daily Mail reported that Wahlberg is also considering producing the movie alongside Stephen Levinson, who came up with the idea for the story.
Wahlberg and Levinson have previously worked together with Netflix on the action comedy Spenser Confidential, which featured Wahlberg playing the titular character.
Rapper Post Malone also appeared in the movie in his debut acting role, and Wahlberg said that they snuck a beer onset for the musician so that he could “calm the nerves.”
“You know, he likes his Bud Light, and when he showed up to the set he thought, ‘Well, I could just take a 12-pack,'” said Wahlberg.
“You can’t do that. We were able to sneak one in, in a Dunkin’ Donuts cup… I got one in. It just was just to calm the nerves. It was the acting debut.”

Wahlberg went on to explain how he convinced Post Malone to appear in the Netflix movie.
“He and I were friends. We were hanging out at my house one night and he was just going on and on about how he wanted to die in a movie,” he said. “And I was like, ‘Well, I don’t know about dying in it, but I’d like to see acting in a movie.’ And I knew he could pull it off.”
The Boston native is known for his street smart persona. And he’s been celebrated for his tough guy grit in movies like Lone Survivor and Three Kings. Making him a natural fit for a working class action hero role.
It’s also no surprise that Mark Wahlberg would be considered to play a James Bond-type character because he is known for his intense daily fitness regimen.
In fact, 48-year-old Wahlberg’s body rivals that of Daniel Craig, who has played James Bond for years. The former Calvin Klein model still rocks a toned physique.
BBC reported that Wahlberg previously revealed that he wakes up every morning at 2:30am to work out, and he also carefully plans out all his meals for the day.
“I start out with steel oats, blueberries and peanut butter for breakfast,” he said in 2018.
“Then I have a protein shake, three turkey burgers, five pieces of sweet potato at about 5:30 in the morning. At 8 o’clock, I have about 10 turkey meatballs. At 10:30am, I have a grilled chicken salad with two hard-boiled eggs, olives, avocado, cucumber, tomato, lettuce.”

“Then at 1 o’clock I have a New York steak with green peppers,” he continued.
“At 3.30pm, I have grilled chicken with bok choi. At 5.30/6 o’clock, I have a beautiful piece of halibut or cod or a seabass, with some vegetables, maybe some sautee potatoes and bok choi. And I have a lot of Aquahydrate during the day. That’s it.”
You’ve got to give credit where credit is due. And the youngest Wahlberg certainly puts in the work to pick up kick-ass roles.
James Bond is a cinema icon and so it’s exciting to see whether Netflix’s American version will rival the original. After all, everyone loves working class hero.
