Lori Loughlin Faces Decades In Prison But Could Get Off On This Technicality

Lori Loughlin of “Fuller House” fame faces up to 45 years in prison for her role in the college admissions scandal. While that would bring most people to their knees, a source close to Loughlin reports the actress remains confident that her case will be dismissed altogether. Apparently, hiring high-priced Hollywood lawyers inspires a great deal of confidence.

Lori Loughlin’s Lawyers Assert Investigator Misconduct

An anonymous source close to Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli spoke to Us Weekly. They say the couple is confident that their case will be dismissed because of alleged misconduct on the part of federal investigators.

“Lori’s lawyers feel they have a very strong chance of having the charges dismissed because prosecutors withheld key evidence that [ringleader] Rick Singer was pressured by the FBI to lie in the course of his conversations with Lori,” the source said.

“It was entrapment, misleading a defendant so that Rick could get a favorable sentence for his role. Rick was the mastermind in all of this.”

Loughlin and Giannulli are accused of paying the scandal’s mastermind Rick Singer $500,000 in bribe money. The bribe was allegedly used for her two daughters’ admission into  the University of Southern California. Who were subsequently admitted as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before.

Notes from Singer have since come to light that the couple says prove their assertion that they thought the money was a legitimate donation to the school, rather than a bribe.

Prosecution Maintains A Crime Took Place

Fox News reported that the prosecution, however, has since stated that whether the money was called a “donation” or a “bribe,” a crime still took place.

Despite this, the source close to Loughlin says the couple remains confident that a judge will dismiss their case completely.

“Lori’s team is asking that the charges be dismissed entirely or for the recorded telephone conversations to be suppressed, meaning, the jury can’t hear it,” the insider said.

“If the judge doesn’t dismiss or suppress the phone conversations, Lori’s lawyers will grill Rick Singer on the stand. Singer could actually become a witness for the defense even though he has been cooperating with the feds.”

Lori Loughlin And Mossimo Giannulli Face Decades In Prison

Loughlin and Giannulli were hit with a litany of charges that include bribery, money laundering and conspiracy. If convicted on all charges, they could each be sent to prison for up to 45 years.

Their trial is still set to take place sometime in October.

The close source concluded by saying that while they expect a dismissal, they are still prepared to prove their innocence in court if need be.

Loughlin’s unwavering confidence in a dismissal is astonishing. Especially given everything that has happened over the past year. Including Felicity Huffman’s jail time.

On the other hand, we’ve certainly seen celebrities overcome less favorable odds thanks to the best attorneys money can buy.

This could explain why Lori Loughlin chose the ‘not guilty’ path from the get go. By all accounts, she’s felt like she did no wrong and could avoid prison.

Money can’t buy happiness – but maybe, just maybe, it can buy freedom?
