Jon Jones Promises to “Expose” Francis Ngannou in Latest Twitter Scuffle

It remains to be seen if Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou end up fighting. But, at least publicly, the all-star fighters seem pretty keen on throwing hands in the Octagon at some point.

Jones responds to Ngannou, says he’ll “expose” the heavyweight slugger

Recently the MMA world has been buzzing about Jones and Ngannou fighting, since recently the light-heavyweight champ said he’s down to fight the heavyweight contender.

Ngannou has also sounded interested in the match-up, and after Jones hadn’t tweeted about it for a little while, “The Predator” posted this.

“Hello Jonny are you still there?”

Well, clearly Jones caught wind of the tweet, as the renowned fighter responded with this.

“First you can save the rest of your tongue pictures for your other homies and yes I’m right here, just waking up from watching that Derek Lewis fight again.

You ain’t scaring nobody, I saw your heart. You’re a big old mouse, I’ll expose you.”

Jones is referring to Ngannou’s decision loss to Lewis, which went down in July, 2018, in a fight that was widely panned by fans. The fight marked the first time Ngannou had fought since he lost via decision to current champ, Stipe Miocic, earlier that year.

Since then, however, Ngannou has bombed out four straight opponents, and only one of them, Junior dos Santos, lasted longer than a minute.

So will Jones – Ngannou happen?

While there’s no question a gazillion people want to see this fight, the question is, will it happen? When Dana White was asked about it after UFC Florida, he said this (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“Anything’s possible,” White said. “I don’t know if those guys really want that fight.

“Let me tell you this, and I’m not saying this is the case with these two — you see a lot of talk online and whatever it might be. Actually making fights is a whole other ballgame.”

Alistair Overeem has also expressed doubts about the fight happening, even though he’d love to see it. Overeem noted that since Ngannou doesn’t have the heavyweight title, he’s not sure Jones and his camp would take the bout.

But, you never know. Jones is coming off back-to-back, razor-thin wins over Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes. So, maybe  he sees a fight with Ngannou as a compelling way to silence any doubts he remains the planet’s best, pound-for-pound fighter?
