There were plenty of big storylines tied to ONE Championship’s 2019 year, and memorable bouts, and Timofey Nastyukhin’s victory over Eddie Alvarez fell into both those buckets.
Nastyukhin’s top three knockouts with ONE
Recently ONE shared out the video below, which features Nastyukhin’s top three finishes to date with the Asia based promotion. As noted above, one of them was his stoppage of Alvarez in March, 2019.
Not only was it a huge win for Nastyukhin because in Alvarez, he took out a former UFC and Bellator champ. But, Alvarez was making his ONE Championship debut in the contest, which also served as a quarterfinal bout for the promotion’s lightweight grand prix.
Nastyukhin’s been sidelined
The 30-year-old Russian fighter hasn’t fought since he shocked the world by taking out Alvarez. Due to an injury, Nastyukhin was unable to continue in ONE’s lightweight grand prix.
Since that victory was so massive, however, one would think ONE will tap Nastyukhin for a big name fight when he returns.
