Watch Rita Wilson Kick Off NASCAR Virtual Racing With Inspiring National Anthem Performance

Rita Wilson, wife of Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks, had the privilege of launching NASCAR’s virtual racing series this weekend. Just after officially kicking coronavirus to the curb, the “Sleepless in Seattle” actress made her return to singing official with a moving rendition of the national anthem.

Fox News reported that Wilson, 63, showed the world that the virus had no impact on her voice when she sang from the heart in a stirring performance of the national anthem on Sunday to kick off the iRacing Pro Invitational Series Race.

She’ll also be hosting CMT’s tribute to Kenny Rogers scheduled for later this week.

Though Wilson is best known for her roles in “It’s Complicated” and as Suzy in “Sleepless In Seattle,” she’s also an accomplished singer-songwriter.

Sporting a red leather jacket and blue jeans, Wilson performed the song from her home in Los Angeles.

She’s still practicing social distancing after returning home from where she contracted the virus and was quarantined with husband Tom in Australia.

Wilson’s 24 year-old son Truman Hanks acted as videographer as she sang the beautiful song.

Wilson Calls Herself A ‘COVID-19 Survivor’

Hanks and Wilson were two of the first celebrities to go public with their coronavirus diagnoses last month.

Last week, Wilson announced her recovery in a lengthy Instagram post in which she described herself as a “COVID-19 survivor.”

“All of this would not be possible without good health. So, today, March 29, I am celebrating the beauty of this life, the blessings God has given, and my continued good health, even now as a COVID 19 survivor,” she wrote.

“Please take a moment today to acknowledge the amazing creation your bodies are and to thank it for doing so much.”

Tom Hanks also released a statement last week confirming that they was safely back in America after recovering from the virus.

“Hey, Folks… we’re home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing,” he said in a statement.

“Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it.”

Colin Hanks’ Tips To Make Face Masks

Hanks’ son Colin Hanks took to Instagram over the weekend to offer tips on how best to make face masks to protect yourself from the virus.

“How to turn your kerchief into a face mask. Don’t forget to put you (sic) kerchief in the washing machine afterwards!” Colin wrote on Instagram.

We’re so glad to see that the Hanks family is doing so much better, and that Wilson is doing well enough to sing our powerful national anthem.

They are inspirations to all of us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that we really can beat this thing!
