Ricky Gervais Torches Smug Celebrities Who Lecture ‘Normal Nobodies’ About Coronavirus

Comedian Ricky Gervais has never been afraid to speak his mind. This week, he’s showing that once again by letting lose on the elitist Hollywood celebrities who think they have the right to lecture the rest of us about coronavirus. Plus, Ricky Gervais’ criticism of Hollywood’s out-of-touch elite is earning him a growing number of fans on the right.

Ricky Gervais Blasts Gal Gadot And Her Fellow Hollywood A-Listers

During a new interview with BBC Radio 5, Gervais targeted Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot for her infamous star-studded rendition of “Imagine” that she released on social media in response to COVID-19 last month.

The video featured Gadot and other stars like Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, and Mark Ruffalo performing the classic Beatles song, and it did not go over well.

“That Imagine video, it’s not that bad, they’re probably very nice people,” Gervais said. “It was an awful rendition, but they might have been doing it for good reasons, to help these normal nobodies.”

“But they’re going, ‘My film’s coming up and I’m not on telly — I need to be in the public eye,’ not all of them but some of them,” he added. “You can see in their eye — ‘I could cry at the beauty of my personality, I’m just so beautiful for doing this’ and everyone sees that — we get it.”

Gervais Slams Celebrities Whining About Quarantine

He also criticized the many celebrities who are whining about having to stay in quarantine in their mansions.

“For a start, you won’t hear me complain — not when there’s [United Kingdom National Health Service] nurses doing 14 hours shifts — and frontline workers carrying on and risking their health,” he said. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me … I go for walks on Hampstead Heath, and we’ve got a garden.”

Gervais went on to add that wealthy stars are privileged beings who don’t have the right to lecture anyone about coronavirus.

“There are people in high rise blocks with three kids — I can’t complain,” he said. “This is why millionaires in their mansions with their gym and going for a swim can’t lecture people.”

“People are sick of being lectured, multi-millionaires telling them to clean out their coffee jar and put it in the right bin — they know those celebs are taking private jets to their private islands,” Gervais added. “They are sick of it.”

Gervais Hosts Golden Globe Awards

This comes months after Gervais blasted wealthy celebrities while hosting the Golden Globe Awards, famously telling them to not use their speeches to preach about politics.

“So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a political platform to make a political speech,” Gervais said during his monologue. “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God and f*** off. OK?”

Ricky Gervais Gain Conservative Fans

Gervais’ Golden Globes hosting gig was a huge hit, earning him legions of new fans, many of whom were conservative.

In his latest interview, Gervais was asked what he thought about having conservative fans.

“I didn’t notice [the new Twitter followers],” he said according to Yahoo News, “until a couple of disgruntled liberal elites suddenly said, ‘Oh, Gervais is alt-right now.’ And I went, ‘What?’”

Gervais continued:

“What’s right-wing about taking the mickey out of the richest, most powerful corporations on the planet? But I’ve had this before. People that followed me, if they were far right, they’re probably not atheists like me. They probably don’t like some of the language that I use. They probably don’t agree with my anti-trophy hunting stance. In general, I think most normal people follow a person for a particular reason or two. If the tweets I hate outnumber the ones I like, I’ll unfollow him. No one has to be perfect to have friends. They just have to be, on balance, OK.”

It’s so refreshing to see someone calling out the liberal elites of Hollywood instead of trying to desperately kiss up to them!

Ricky Gervais always tells it like it is, and we love him for that. Hopefully he never stops calling out Hollywood liberals for their nonsense!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
