The UFC’s much-discussed, next pay-per-view event has taken place yet. But, it looks like the promotion has taken a big step towards holding a May 9th card as planned.

Florida to reportedly host next UFC PPV

Not long after the UFC’s plans to hold a card on April 18th in California was punted, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dana White reported the UFC was working on hold an event, May 9th.

Since then, White has mentioned the UFC’s Apex Facility in Las Vegas as a possible location for upcoming cards, as well as a private island. But, as it stands right now, it’s not clear if sporting events will be allowed in Nevada next month.

Well, on Tuesday, MMA Fighting reported that sources say the UFC is planning to hold the May 9th card in Florida. The card’s official location has yet to be disclosed.

But the report says fighters will travel to Jacksonville and then head to the event from there.

Recently Florida Governor Ron DeSantis lifted some of the pandemic related restrictions on certain businesses, including sporting events, provided no fans are in attendance.

The report also states that The Florida State Boxing Commission has confirmed it is prepared to regulate events, provided promotions follow the various guidelines.

So, we’ll see if this card really happens and what kind of health and safety measures are in place. But, it is starting to look like the UFC could be up-and-running soon.

Here is the planned line-up that the UFC previously shared for the event. At that time, not all bouts were finalized.
