Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe of “Dirty Jobs” fame is known for being one of the hardest working guys out there. That’s why it should come as no surprise that while addressing the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic, Rowe directly challenged the way politicians and employers are thinking. He wants America – and especially the guys in charge – to know there’s “no such thing” as a nonessential worker.

Plus, Mike Rowe has a new hosting gig that we can’t wait to watch.

Mike Rowe Discusses US Response To Coronavirus

During an interview with Fox News host Dana Perino, Rowe discussed the US decision to shut down nonessential business in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

“There’s this fascinating conversation going on, on your network and all the networks, where we are making a distinction between the essential workers and nonessential workers,” Rowe said, according to The Washington Times.

“Not to oversell it, but there’s something tricky with the language going on here, because with regard to an economy, I don’t think there is any such thing as a nonessential worker.”

“No Such Thing…As A Nonessential Worker”

Rowe was referring to Perino’s previous guest, who was a physical therapist in Nashville that recently got furloughed because her job was deemed nonessential.

“This is basically a quilt,” Rowe said, “and if you start pulling on jobs and tugging on careers over here and over there, the whole thing will bunch up in a weird way.”

“In my mind, there’s no such thing right now as a nonessential worker,” he added.

Mike Rowe has long been a champion to the American worker and so it’s good to see him bearing this torch. Recovery from this global pandemic will not be easy and its important we all remember and protect the workers across all industries and specialties who contribute to our way of life.

Mike Rowe Scores “Deadliest Catch” Hosting Gig

One day after his Fox interview, it was announced that Rowe has a new gig hosting “Before the Catch”. In this special virtual talk show, Rowe will talk to the captains of “Deadliest Catch”.

The talk show is a way to celebrate “Deadliest Catch” before it returns for it’s 16th season on April 14.

“You never know what you’re gonna get when you sit and chat with a Bering Sea Captain,” Rowe told Fox News. “Especially a Bering Sea Captain whose been cooped up for the last three weeks in isolation. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect, but I can promise the conversation will be lively.”

The network added that the show will feature Rowe talking to the captains via webcam about the new season and about previous seasons as well.

“Never shy about asking the tough questions, Mike will find out what it was really like for the Alaskan crab fleet as they faced off against their biggest rival ever this year – the Russian crab fleet,” the network said.

“This season will bring new fishing alliances, former ‘Catch’ captains returning to the fleet and a global, headline-grabbing winter storm that pounds their crab boats.”

I don’t know about you, but I just got all the more excited about the new season of “Deadliest Catch”. Everything is better with Mike Rowe.

We’re so glad to see that Mike Rowe is staying busy during this crazy time. And we can’t wait for him to enlighten with more words of wisdom!

He truly is one of a kind.
