Gary Sinise Launches Massive Coronavirus Campaign To Help First Responders And Their Families

Academy Award-nominated actor Gary Sinise has devoted much of his life to helping veterans and emergency workers through his charity, The Gary Sinise Foundation. Now, the “I Still Believe” star has announced that his foundation is stepping up in a big way amid this pandemic to help first responders and their families as they continue fighting on the frontlines.

Gary Sinise Launches Emergency COVID-19 Combat Service 

Sinise just announced that his foundation has launched the Emergency COVID-19 Combat Service. This is big news for everyone on the frontlines.

This dedicated campaign is designed to address all of the needs of emergency workers during this difficult time. 

“During this public health crisis, Emergency COVID-19 Combat Service will be the gateway for providing grants to first responders in need of personal protective equipment when answering COVID-19 service calls,” the foundation stated on their website.

Through the Foundation, the campaign will also provide financial assistance where needed.

“Financial assistance is also available to service members, veterans, first responders, and their families who have been impacted by the coronavirus. ”

Dolly Parton Makes $1 Million Donation

Sinise isn’t the only star who is stepping up to do his part in the face of this crisis. Country music legend Dolly Parton made a huge announcement today.

The country icon is donating $1 million to Vanderbilt University. Dolly arrived at the decision after learning from a friend that researchers there are close to finding a coronavirus vaccine.

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure,” Parton wrote.

“I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

Dolly continues to a bright shining beacon in this storm. Her faith and her heart continue to inspire, making all of us love her even more!

Brands Step Up To Fight Coronavirus As Well 

Gary Sinise and Dolly aren’t the only ones using their capital and clout to help everyday people.

Brands are also stepping up to help fight the coronavirus outbreak. Ford has teamed up with GE Healthcare to build air-pressured ventilators throughout the month of April. While General Motors partners with Ventec Life Systems to do the same thing. 

Meanwhile, NASCAR is using their 3D printers at the NASCAR Research & Technology center to make face shields. One of the machines is even able to print three face shields every 2½ hours.

These face shields will help offset the critical shortage of protective gear faced by healthcare professionals.

“That’s the one we try to keep running almost nonstop,” Eric Jacuzzi, senior director of NASCAR’s aerodynamics and vehicle performance, told The Associated Press.

“We have people that are actually having their teenage children help with cutting the clear facial part as part of their volunteer work at home, six of us running the machines, and more people reaching out to help.”

It warms the heart to see people and organizations stepping up to help in any way they can. It’s trying and uncertain times like these when we discover what we’re really made of.
