Felicity Huffman daughter Sophia Macy Carnegie Mellon University admission

Sophia Macy, the daughter of former “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman,  has reportedly been accepted into the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. Her acceptance into one of the best theater conservatories in the country comes not quite a year after her mother pled guilty to paying someone to correct the incorrect answers on Sophia’s SAT exam.

Felicity Huffman’s Daughter Gets Into Dream School

Daily Mail reported that Sophia, the 19 year-old daughter of Huffman and “Shameless” actor William H. Macy, announced the good news to her followers on Instagram over the weekend.

“CMU Drama 24,” she wrote, implying that she is a member of the class of 2024 at the renowned institution.

CMU School of Drama is the oldest degree-granting drama program in the United States, and it is known for being one of the most difficult ones to get into.

Famous alumni of the Pittsburgh school include Broadway stars Leslie Odom Jr and Renee Elise Goldsberry as well as film stars Josh Gad, Ethan Hawke, Ted Danson and Oscar-nominated director Rob Marshall.

Felicity Huffman’s Guilty Conscience

This comes just months after an emotional Huffman pled guilty to federal counts of mail fraud and honest services mail fraud  for paying a proctor $15,000 to correct Sophia’s answers on the math section of the SAT.

Huffman even admitted to what she had done in a letter to the judge. In her letter, she talked about having “betrayed” her daughter, who allegedly had no idea the scam was taking place.

“This transgression toward her and the public I will carry for the rest of my life. My desire to help my daughter is no excuse to break the law or engage in dishonesty,” the disgraced actress wrote.

Huffman went on to recall the moment Sophia was told of what had happened, and the teenager reacted by asking her mother, “Why didn’t you believe in me?”

The actress was then sentenced to 14 days in jail, one year of supervised release, a $30,000 fine and 250 hours of community service.

Huffman completed her sentence and is now free to move on with her life unlike co-defendant, Lori Loughlin.

Lori Loughlin Went A Different Route

Loughlin and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli chose to go a different route and fight the charges against them.

Their legal situation has since escalated to the point where Loughlin now faces 40 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Where, has she admitted her guilt like Huffman, the “Fuller House” actress likely would have received a similarly lenient sentence.

Loughlin’s daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, was a social media influencer with over a million followers before the scandal broke. After going dark for months, Olivia Jade, has slowly started posting on Instagram again.

She refrains from saying too much in her posts, however, and typically opts for standalone photos of herself.

It’s interesting to see how these two families chose different paths in the face of this scandal. And how their lives look since the college admissions scandal broke.

Given the fact that Felicity Huffman’s daughter was able to secure entry into one of the most prestigious drama schools in the country, it certainly doesn’t seem that Sophia Macy has been negatively impacted much by it.

While the details of her admission are unknown, one can’t help but wonder if Huffman’s scheme may have earned Sophia the outcome that she always wanted after all.

On the flip side, it’s unfortunate that Sophia Macy has to live in the shadow of her mother’s participation in the college admissions scandal.
